I have a feeling Tennessee will expose Georgia's defense Saturday. Last year we heard they had the greatest defense of all time until they finally faced an offense that could pass the ball (Alabama), they got shredded. Tennessee has a tough offense to defend and it's gonna be a challenge to keep up with their scoring. Ohio State and Alabama are the only two teams capable of beating them right now. Sorry Dawgs!!!

Well hell, if last year's Georgia team means we can assume the same about this year's, might as well say the same for UT. I figure probably a 30 plus point win since we beat them by 24 in Neyland last year.

Why is everyone assuming that Georgia needs to shut down Tennessee to win?

With the exception of Smokey, every freaking over the top thing stated about UT and Georgia is coming from members who joined in 2022.

Almost every one of them.

"Tennessee runs more than they pass".

The question is if Tennessee can stay on schedule in Athens against a hostile crowd and a dominant defensive line/linebacker crew.

If they can, then the Vols can challenge UGA covering a lot of ground on drives and with explosives.

If Tennessee can't stay on schedule, there may be a negative snowball effect for the offense. You may see hits on Hooker that you haven't seen to date. You may see turnovers that you haven't seen to date.

UGA's already played a top 25 passing offense this year.

We held them to 173 yards through the air to #23 Oregon. UT is number 2 in the nation in passing.

UT hasn't played a top 25 passing offense (yeah, Bama's outside the top 25 this year).

They gave up 455 yards to #34 Bama. UGA's #8 in passing.

They did have one of the best defenses ever. The SECCG was the result of a switch in scheme from what they had done all year. It was an anomaly that was corrected in round two. Smart and Lanning, instead of sending pressure from all directions as had been our trademark all season, decided to try to contain Young. Saban had his Oline prepared to stop pressure even to the point of having help from RBs giving an extra layer of protection. UGA made it easier by having their DLine just be dance partners at the LOS. It was a really bad result as you can’t give Young 5 seconds throw receivers open.

But thankfully, Smart saw the error of his ways and turned the best front 7 of all time loose and took what was rightfully theirs in the game that mattered the most. I love that our coach has matured to where he can swallow his pride and realize his team lost because of scheme.

UGA wasn't great last year, or this year, but I think they are probably better than Alabama's defense this year. More importantly, as previously noted, UGA won't be hit with a record number of penalties in Athens, and they will probably win the game.

It wasn't the DBs, it was Golding's scheme. We ran a 2-4-5, dropped our 2 best rushers into coverage at least as much as they rushed as a result, and we also kept a third safety on the field at all times to help against the run which left us exposed on the backend. All we had to do to fix the problem was add a third d lineman, put Anderson at back at his typical jack position to rush the passer, and put another corner on the field instead of a safety. It was a bad plan on defense. The worst I've seen at Alabama since Saban arrived.
