Is that a thing? I don’t think anybody’s ever said that.

It's been happening to Dabo the last few years.

Everyone thought he had usurped Saban too. Hasn't made the playoff the last two years and got blown out by Ohio State, who Bama rolled in the title game.

Fair point, but wrong. Every time a Kirby assistant gets poached, a better one comes along.

Mel Tucker
Jim Chaney
Dan Lanning
Shane Beamer
Sam Pittman

There's probably others I'm forgetting.

Point being, losing assistants to better jobs is not new for Kirby. People still act like Kirby has only been a coach for 3 or 4 years. He's heading into his 8th year as HC. He knows how to manage shite at this point.

So far it has led to the best back to back SEC seasons in decades.

I hope the bucs are not this stupid. But hell they make more questionable hires than solid ones. Usually 3 years was the max before Monken has been fired, he would be stupid to leave the 1st steady employment of his career.

People don’t get (maybe they’ve never been in the position - no surprise due to the maturity level of many posters here) that it is human nature to be more than what you are - personally and professionally.

Going from college to the NFL (maybe that has always been their dream), from an assistant to a head coach (even at a small school), etc. are all natural progressions and evolutionary for people who consider themselves leaders (and it has ZERO to do with money).

Getting upset when people leave to achieve more is selfish. I’ve always been happy for someone who has left - if they consider it a step up (at my job or in any walk of life). It is the parallel or lower moves (you don’t expect) that should bother you.

Why would it be stupid? Maybe he wants to strike while the fire is hot. Maybe that is a dream job for him. Maybe a life in Tampa is more appealing than Athens (not maybe, it is).

You never know what people are thinking or what is important to them. This could be the opportunity he has been waiting for.

You desperately hope he is dumb enough to leave so much winning behind. He did a great job of proving you wrong the past 2 seasons.

I said he should stay…. And he doesn’t coach D. If anything the last two years validated Kirby’s game manager with a deep and talented D system.

think that would be a mistake on his part. Bowles probably won't be there much longer.

Thats exactly why it could be a great move for Monken. He can take over the offense with some pretty good pieces, and have them competing again. If Bowles gets canned, Monken could slide into an NFL HC job relatively early.

I could see this being an attractive fit. Monken is elite. He'd do well in thr NFL.

He should but That wouldn’t benefit you and your team in any way. His elite offenses a huge reason for your worst nightmare coming true. He was the missing link.
