Punter and Kicker are more important positions than people, including a ton of coaches, generally give them credit for being but without a doubt QB is the position that hurts most. Beck had the amazing quality of being both your biggest liability and your biggest asset. Losing him will matter but probably not as much as it would’ve without the bye.

There have been multiple fan bases acting like assholes in this thread. I mean, this place is a cesspool, but it's generally not this deep with it.

It is a good thing that Georgia won, or we could have had an FSU situation from last year in the playoff bracket.

Just feels like another steson/jt Daniels situation to me. Beck looks better on paper, but maybe the team plays better with Stockton.

Slightly different situation since the extent of Beck's injury wasn't known until after Selection Sunday.

It does bring up a good question tho: would UGA be the #2 seed if the MRI results were known to the CFP committee before noon yesterday?

Is a 2 loss SEC champ better than the other 2 conference champions and auto qualifiers?

I'd say that depends on Gunner Stockton.

The kid has 3 weeks to prepare as QB1 against a TBD opponent. We'll see...

I agree Porter, no one should rejoice in a player getting injured.

They would have had to drop us to #10 in the rankings to change the seeding.

My point is that even if Beck’s injury was known we still would have been the #2 seed.

Again I’m not dismissing how tough the kid played. He deserves a ton of credit for the situation. But like come on man. This is his third year in the program. Georgia completely dumbed the offense down. 90% of the passing attack was lateral dump offs and screens. Obviously the break will help the coaching staff scheme up a plan for him but it’s going to be hard for them to win 3 playoff games if that’s what they get out of the QB position.

Hope SEC is happy counting their money from a useless game a major player was injured. Wish all the players would opt out of game.

So UGA opts out all their players, then has to play in the first round (no bye) and is somehow less likely to have an injury to Beck in that first round because some genius statistical forecast you put together?

I don't think so.

FSU wasn't all that great even before the QB got injured. They had played a weak schedule overall, and then they looked even worse after the QB injury.

Georgia this year played one of the tougher schedules in college football, probably 3 times more difficult than FSU last year.

And they actually did better with the backup in against a top5 team.

We're playing a defense that is #1 in yards per play and #1 in passing yards allowed per game in the entire country... and you want a backup QB who had limited practice reps for a conference championship game to 1) read Texas's complex defense schemes, 2) scan through multiple options, and 3) air the ball out 20-30 yards downfield to a group of receivers that haven't consistently won 1-on-1 matchups?

I noticed Florida didn't exactly air the ball out against Texas with Warner at quarterback. And he actually had a full week of first team reps to get ready.

Opening the full playbook for Stockton in that situation would be coaching malpractice.

At least they have their starting QB in a game that matters against a lesser opponent.
