On why he was absent:

quote:

Tuesday, Pickens confirmed his absence was due to an upper-body injury he suffered in the days leading up to Georgia’s game against Kentucky. As far as those rumors, he did the only thing that he could: he ignored them.

“I really wasn’t paying too much attention to that,” Pickens said. “When I was not on the field, I was encouraging the young guys, which makes me happy the most because I was a freshman last year. I would just text them all the time, always telling them to put their best foot forward in practice and let them know it would pay off in the game.”

quote:

Against visiting Mississippi State, Pickens caught a season-high eight passes for 87 yards and a touchdown, providing quite the combo with freshman Jermaine Burton who caught eight passes for 197 yards and two scores.

“He’s kind of similar to me last year,” Pickens said of Burton. “You really don’t have to tell him what to do. You just play your game, and he feeds off of it. I see that, and that is what I mean by kind of helping other guys. It’s about me doing my part and them feeding off of my energy.”

quote:

Pickens said the game plan with Daniels was not unlike any the Bulldogs used previously this year.

“No, it was the same plan that we had with the other quarterbacks, it’s just some quarterbacks throw different than others, some have a different trajectory.”

Hearing him frame himself as a leader is hilarious

George has always been known as a good teammate. He and Fromm had a good relationship. He just gets excited sometimes.

This is like defending a 3 year old, which is pretty accurate

I will admit when he squirted Guarantano with the water bottle I laughed my arse off.

I guess that makes me a bad person.

He got in a fight with a GT player (which he didn’t start) and squirted water on Gitmo. Other than that the dude hasn’t done anything. People love to start rumors about him but they’ve all been disproved.

Yeah, that's bullshite. They may be framing it that way now, but unless he's matured exponentially since getting to college, it's not true.

I guarantee you if it was any other player than Pickens everyone would’ve thought it was funny. He just has a reputation now.

I'm not saying he's gonna end up arrested or something, just that he comes off as childish

Really a shame how people judge this young man. Hes a great guy who really just had one incident by squirting water on someone. And really the gt tech player started the fight with him. If someone is swinging at me. Im defending myself everytime

Linking me your post saying he had issues in high school doesn’t mean anything to me? Are you saying you have inside info?

We all know he had bad grades. The story about beating up a retarded kid was fake.

I’ve defended George ITT but he is definitely childish.

In this particular case, yes.

Correct. Nothing to do with that.

Look, I'm not saying he's a bad person, but you can't minimize it by saying his reputation is unfounded.

Hopefully this is all true, and he's matured.

Wait. You are using a post by you to prove a post by you?

It's an honest conversation. What do you know that he has done since going to Georgia. Here is what I know:

1. Squirted water on an opposing player. (players douse themselves with water during a game all the time, so lets not pretend it is a huge deal. Immature? Absolutely.
2. Suspended for a half for breaking team rules for GT game
3. Got in fight with GT player that it could be argued the GT player started by baiting him.
4. When corrected during games he looks directly at coach and nods....does not argue or pout.
5. Works hard in practice.
6. Showboats from time to time.

Sorry. So far, I don't see a player who is a cancer to the team. He is decidedly immature, but most players are at that age....he does show it publicly on the field sometimes, though.

I hope so. he has a lot of maturing to do, no doubt. nobody should argue that point. I think where a lot of Georgia posters bow up is when people call him a cancer and it was a mistake to sign up. So far it has not been a mistake......that I know of. I don't know what is going on in a lockeroom, but from what we have heard has has been a good teammate, and has taken correction well. he has one....MAYBE two seasons left. We'll see how it plays out.

Honestly? I feel more confident/excited about Burton and Jackson, though.

Burton is going to be special now that there's a qb who can let him stretch the field
