he will not play in the first game against Auburn. Sources say in exchange of Auburn being very helpful in the process, Stoops and Malzahn came to a gentlemen’s agreement that UK would not play him in the first game against Auburn.

No way this is true. You are going to tell your starting QB he won the job but can't play against AU because it's not fair to the other team?

Gatewood will be the back up but they will have some packages for him where he’s used much like Lynn Bowden was last year, only with a threat to throw it.
I’m just reporting what is being said by a UK insider on the rivals board that is rarely wrong. Hard to believe he would dream that up and put his name on it. Sounds logical to me.

I love Gatewood. I actually thought he would win the job last year. Im not sleeping on him.

But the situation that is presented in this thread is odd. "He can play but not against us". LOL. Plus, our defense is pretty good. It may be true but I just dont see it.

I hope he plays. I have been wanting to see how well he does.

Sounds more like he needs some time with the 1s. I am sure Stoops was splitting time due to the unknowns. A gentleman's agreement is laughable. Stoops makes too much money to piss a game away.

Gatewood is the only player in AU history that no fans are pissed off at because he left. Coach Goofy flat out embarrassed the guy on national tv. I hope JG does well up there

Bo Nix gonna beat that arse on the field and beat that arse in the parking lot after the game.

Gatewood was a loser backup QB outta HS and still is... Never understood the hype.

Stoops must have a better option.

It is good that they were to able to work things out beneficially. Every team in the SEC would would want the same agreement, so I can't blame Auburn at all, but it sure would make the game that much more interesting to see Gatewood face Auburn.

I think both Kentucky and Auburn fans would agree with that.

I hope Joey Gatewood finds all the success in the world at Kentucky. He seems to be a class act. I hate it didn’t work out at Auburn, as I wanted him to be starter over Bo Nix.

So now you are saying that Stoops is going to break this supposed "agreement" with Malzahn and just play Gatewood "a little bit"? So if Gatewood comes in and lights it up on a drive, Stoops is going to pull him from the game and intentionally tank the game because he promised to play nice with Malzahn? Do you see how illogical this sounds? I would imagine if he does not start it is because he didn't win the job and you guys just need something to be a cover for your disappointment that Gatewood isn't the next Cam Newton.

This.

That’s not how it works. At all.

In no way will/would Gatewood start. Wilson will start. Book it.

Cat fan.
