UCF clearly understands the de facto rules in place: Group of Five programs are only making the playoffs in very extreme conditions.

And they understand their best chance is to move to the Power 5 next round of realignment, despite their acting like they are the defenders of all non Power 5 programs.

So they want to be in the news, they want to get headlines, they want to be part of the national story so they get upgraded this decade. Programs like TCU and Utah have shown everyone how to do it. The trick is to be part of the conversation for an long as possible.

And fricking UF is giving them an in, giving them a soapbox to stand on. Now they don't even need any more perfect seasons, if they win one of the three games with UF given to them they can act like they belonged the whole time.

If UF wouldn't have engaged with them then LSU would have ended their little publicity tour this bowl season. But now it will be dragged out for years as they lead the charge against a "conspiracy" that they want to be part of.

This is exactly why you don't give into children throwing tantrums, it just enables more bad behavior. UF should have ignored then.

Dude everyone around the country knows that UF tried a 2 for 1 and UCF shite their pants and declined. Why the hell would they upgrade to a full P5 schedule where they have to play 5 p5 teams away every season? That doesn’t make sense

And they declined on the merits that it wasn't fair, which enables an entire set of talking points for them.

Because Power 5 teams get tens of millions of dollars from their conferences every year while Group of 5 programs are lucky to get a couple million at the most.

College football at its core is about money, and UCF just wants a bigger cut and the respect that comes with being Power 5.

No UF didn’t offer anything. They discussed it publicly to save face only after Strickland got his “playoff” committee cronies to hide UF from UCF in the Peach Bowl and insert Michigan. A disgrace!!!!!

A disgrace is when a team can go 12-0 in back to back years and only manage to work their way as high as #8 in the country

Y'all are the Buzzfeed of football. You're not serious about actually becoming better, you just want some people to talk about you and give you attention for the cute shite y'all try to pull.

This is squarely on UCF. WE just need to beat them and then they can shutup. As badly as we want to bash Florida, it is not on them.

This is UCF's chitshow and Auburn is the one that gave it juice. UF gave them an option and UCF said no thanks so UF went and got USF instead. UCF had their chance and they only revealed that they are just whining pissants who need a good beat-down in the Fiesta Bowl.

And if you are Srtickland and UF, you know you are about to get pounded by a great Michigan team that has pounded them the last 2-3 times they played, so you know Strckland didn't ensure that UCF and UF didn't play. I am sure Florida wanted to play them to shut them up. As it stands now, UF will get blown to hell by the #2 Big 10 team on national television.

I think it is all Auburn's fault. They could have ended this silly shite last year.

Or is it that there was a handshake agreement between the committee and Peach Bowl that they wouldn't get stuck with some shitty G5 team and fanbase again? This seems much more likely

Don’t blame Florida, this is all Auburn’s fault.

Florida doesn’t need UCF. The Knights need the Gators.

For all the rhetoric about how the Knights wanted to play the Gators in the Peach Bowl – with some even suggesting that Stricklin was dodging UCF – here are the facts.

According to Sports Media Watch, UCF had the lowest rated New Year’s Six bowl game last season (4.6), behind the Citrus (5.1), Cotton (5.3), Fiesta (5.7) and Orange (6.3) Bowls.

The best team UCF has played this season according to the ESPN FPI is 42nd ranked Cincinnati.

Florida has defeated (according to the ESPN FPI) 9th ranked Mississippi State, 16th ranked LSU, and 28th ranked South Carolina. Vanderbilt is ranked 46th.

The Peach Bowl makes money by selling advertising. If they get consistently low ratings, they make less money. The ratings were terrible last season because of UCF. Florida and Michigan will bring more viewers, and thus more money.

Florida let everyone know that UCF is scared to play good teams. Now it’s up to LSU to kill them in the bowl game and end the UCF talk .

UF may have given them a soap box to stand on...

But LSU could be giving them a cardboard box to stand on if they don't do the job.

amiright?

UCF barely beat a shitty Navy, a weak Temple, and a sub-par Memphis (twice). If they had played GT they would not be undefeated.
