Someone has to say it. May as well be me. He's screwed up 2 coaching hires and most likely a decade of Tennessee football. Go to hell, Jon Gruden. Go straight to hell.
Hilarious thread, worth the read.

I'm starting to lean this direction...

He is definitely an attention whore.
quote:
We're all infatuated with Gruden. We wanted Gruden. Multiple people tried to tell us Gruden wasn't a realistic option. We would get mad at people that would say that. And now this is Gruden's fault?
quote:
The part that’s his fault is that he done nothing to shut down all the chatter. Egotistical as hell on his part. Loves him some Jon.
quote:
He negotiated three times with UT this time around and strung us along. And I’m not talking publically.
quote:
Maybe not directly, but if he never existed, Tennessee would probably be in a better place today. All he had to do was say no quickly and publicly. But to be thorough, Jon Currie, Beverly Davenport, Mike Hamilton, and the Haslams can go straight to hell with him.
quote:
I never wanted Gruden. I was Patterson, Mullen, Babers. Someone call Babers tonight!
quote:
If nothing else, he is a whore for attention!
quote:
Calm down. He is coming.
quote:
What if Gruden was interested and Currie strung him along but wanted to hire "his guy" so he could be a bigger star of the show? As cocky and arrogant as Currie is (from what I've heard) this is very possible.

The funny thing is, putting the moral issues aside, Schiano was infinitely a better hire than Gruden. That's how fricking stupid Tennessee fans are.

Strictly from a football standpoint, this is true.

Honestly, Currie had every opportunity to squash this shite, and he didn't, he decided to stoke the flames and has created an epic shitstorm.
Gruden is an attention whore, but he's not responsible for Currie's incompetence.

Add the Haslams to that and I completely agree. Currie does Haslam's bidding. Thank God the other boosters, players, and insiders stepped up. As much as the fans got attention, we weren't the only ones who killed this.
Haslams need to take note.

Gruden used them and strung them when he never had any intention of going there. I don't blame them for being pissed.

For what? He’s locked into a contract with ESPN and making several million a year. It’s not like there was a bidding war for his coaching services.

He's trying to drum up interest in the NFL. He wants another league HC job.
