Want to see how your football rule knowledge Is?

Try the actual rule covering yesterday's call.

8-6-1-b
b. A kick becomes dead by rule behind the defending team’s goal line and the attacking team is responsible for the ball being there (Exception: Rule 8-4-2-b) (A.R. 6-3-4-III).

8-7-2-a
Initial Impetus
ARTICLE 2. a. The impetus imparted by a player who kicks, passes, snaps or fumbles the ball shall be considered responsible for the ball’s progress in any direction even though its course is deflected or reversed after striking the ground or after touching an official or a player of either team (A.R. 6-3-4-III; A.R. 8-5-1-II, VI and VIII; and A.R. 8-7-2-I-IV).

The officials got it right and every announcer, including Kiffin and Chizik got it wrong.

I see you left out the most important rule:

8-7-2-b

Guess I'll post this here too, since you're spewing this around like a smartalec

6.2.7.a:
quote:

Ball Dead in End Zone
ARTICLE 7.
a. When a free kick untouched by Team B touches the ground on or behind Team B’s goal line, the ball becomes dead and belongs to Team B.
b. If the result of the free kick is a touchback (Rule 8-6) for Team B, they will put the ball in play at their 25-yard line.
Which is why the replay booth checked (incompetently) to see if he touched it, because that does matter. Were this rule not in effect, there would be no need to check for Shivers potentially making contact.

That’s if it’s untouched you moron.

Either this dudes pinky just magically bent backwards or maybe it hit a football, you decide.

Proof it hit his pinky

The rules seem to be inconsistent with each other. I’d be interested to get an official interpretation.

Arkansas fans should be enjoying their better play to date and stop spending all their time complaining about a game from 2 weeks ago.

Re read hot shot FSU fan. Apparently they don't teach reading comprehension over there.

Just tried to move it without moving or holding the index finger. Doesn't work. Only an outside force makes it move like that.

look bud, I'm just saying you're coming in guns a-blazing speaking in absolutes when it's not nearly as simple as you're depicting.

So let's try this:

quote:

quote:

I was aware of this, but decided not to go looking for it. Classy move on your part to bring it up when you easily could have just let it pass.
