Notes and news

Tennessee:
The Vols have continued to reach new heights this season and set another new standard on Monday, earning their highest ranking in program history. UT is ranked No. 3 in the USA Today Top 25 and Perfect Game top 25 poll.

Vanderbilt:
“I definitely don’t think it’s any different than any other week,” Vanderbilt starting pitcher Jack Leiter said. “Our only competition is really ourselves,” Leiter said. “If we can push ourselves and push each other to get better each and every day then it doesn’t matter what we did last weekend. It matters where we’re at at the end of the season.”

Mississippi State:
The Bulldog pitching staff has fanned at least 10 batters in a school-record 13 straight games.

Ole Miss:
The Ole Miss offense scored 30 runs over three games against Arkansas and 58 runs over five games last week. The Rebels are second in the SEC and rank fourth nationally with 253 runs scored.

1. #6 Ole Miss (8-4)(25-8)
3. #4 Mississippi State (8-4)(25-7)
Can someone explain this ordering? How is om tied with Arkansas? And how are they above State?

Since we have not played ole miss the tiebreaker between them is us is broken by common conference opponents. In this case Arkansas which we got swept by Arkansas while OM won 1. So OM is 2nd and we are 3rd. OM is not tied for first though

Well since I copied and pasted it from yesterday's thread, don't act like you are Dick Tracy all of a sudden.

Tigers took care of business

"I just thought we played a really great game tonight in every facet," said LSU coach Paul Mainieri. "We're playing an outstanding ball club in South Carolina and their pitchers all have power arms. Our at-bats were just tremendous, we only struck out six times against those good arms.

From Head Coach Brad Bohannon
"Man, what a great college baseball game, just back and forth all night. We told our guys before the game 'This is the best hitting team we will have played to this point,' and the ball was flying today. We knew it was going to take some crooked numbers and all four times that Auburn scored we responded in the bottom of the inning. William Freeman and Landon Green were lights-out out of the pen and obviously Diodati got a huge hit, so I'm just really proud of our club. Their compete-level, effort, focus and intent was as good as it's ever been and this was just a really, really big win for us tonight."

Stricklin agrees to contract extension

ATHENS, Ga. — The University of Georgia Athletic Association and Ike Cousins head baseball coach Scott Stricklin recently agreed to a new contract extension through 2026, J. Reid Parker Director of Athletics Josh Brooks announced Thursday.

"Coach Stricklin has built a strong program the right way," said Brooks. "His teams play with skill and toughness, which is a direct reflection of his leadership. This year, we've continued to improve under difficult circumstances, and I believe in their potential and the future of this program with Coach Stricklin at the helm."

Kentucky Baseball has Georgia on its mind

Kentucky baseball is getting used to life on the road.

For the third time in four weekends the Wildcats travel to face a Southeastern Conference opponent, this time heading to Athens to face No. 20 Georgia in a three-game series that opens Friday night at Foley Field. The Cats (21-9, 6-6 SEC) are 4-3 so far on the road this season.

The offense will face a stiff challenge in a Georgia (21-10, 5-7) team that just took two of three games at then-No. 1 Vanderbilt last weekend, which resulted in the Bulldogs winning both SEC Player and Pitcher of the Week. UK did have success last time it traveled to Georgia, becoming the only SEC team to win at series at Foley Field during the 2018 and 2019 seasons, a span of 10 series.

Almost game time. Gonna have State vs Ole Miss and UT v Vandy side by side; bourbon stocked; chicken grilling; should be a helluva evening. Gotta love SEC baseball.

It's starting to look like we may able to play. I didn't think we would earlier. I live about 10 miles from campus and haven't heard any thunder in a while and the bad stuff looks like it may stay north of LSU.

Ole Miss ties it up 1-1. Both runs scored on botched plays by the SS oddly enough.

Side note, Ole Miss has some weird dudes on their baseball team. They’re strange.
