I'm a glutton for punishment. shite year for the football Tigers. shite ending for the Saints and now watching the Pelicans.
If nothing else, the Saints will be an interesting off-season story.

I'm 35 year veteran Atlanta sports fan so I feel you
We've got 1995 and y'all have 2010.
Outside of that.....whole lot of seasons ending with gut wrenching losses

How much cap does Brees retiring free up?

Brees retirement would be a benefit for the Saints purely from a salary cap point of view. Losing Drew Brees is not a good thing, but from a contract and salary cap situation, getting that $25 million in salary off the books would be a benefit.
However, if Brees were to retire, the cap does not simply reduce by $25 million. Despite those two void years, if Brees does not play in 2021, the money in those void years accelerates onto the 2021 salary cap. Therefore, the Saints would carry $22.65 million in dead money on their salary cap if Brees retires.

That's a line from Natalie Portman Raps that was on SNL in '06. If you haven't seen or heard it, it's one of the funniest things ever. NSFW language.
