Not really something new. Freeze isn’t the first to do that. I remember something about that during Urban’s early days at Florida.

Hell even Saban uses it as a metric when looking at the measurable of a prospect. The idea is around ankle flexibility.

If it exists, it’s somebody’s fetish.

No kidding ... Belichick would walk to watch all the defensive linemen run their times. He didn't care about the time. He wanted to draft the linemen with the biggest asses. Look it up for yourself.

It’s common knowledge among coaches (especially for defensive tackles) that 300 pounders that still have defined ankles are more agile and quick than the dudes with cankles. It’s weird but it’s a thing.

Ankle rating is highly useful with women

This is not knew. Skinny ankles means more athletic in many cases. Try this for women also.

Eddie Robinson. the famous
Grambling State football coach, recruited many player without seeing tape. He said that when interviewing a defensive player, he'd pay attention to their jaw line. He'd say, "if his jaws were set wide and high on his face and square, he was a "hitter"(physical), and would make you a tough defender!
He'd look for "pigeon-toed" kids when speed was the important factor."If a kid's toes point in, he can fly!"
Until Coach Bryant caught/passed him, he was the winning coach in college football, so he must have known something!

Facial hair is also important.
If the recruit has peach fuzz means he is still growing. If he has a beard he is fully grown.

Cankles didn’t help his vacated wins in 2013.

No doubt. There is nothing nastier on a decent looking woman than cankles. Total turnoff. On the subject of athletes, no doubt smaller ankles usually equal more of an athlete.

Not criticizing your football knowledge, but that's common football knowledge. You want your CBs to have skinny ankles.
