Andy Kennedy may soon be leaving the SEC Network.

No, the coach is not being poached by another network, Kennedy may soon land a head coaching position.

According to Evan Daniels of 247Sports, the former Ole Miss basketball coach is “the clear frontrunner” to land the UAB job. Robert Ehsan, UAB’s previous coach, was dismissed after leading the Blazers to a 76-57 overall record in four seasons.

Kennedy was at Ole Miss from 2006-2018, where he racked up a 245-156 overall record leading the Rebel program. However, the Rebels went to the NCAA Tournament just two times under Kennedy while making six NIT runs.

Following his resignation at Ole Miss during the 2018 season, Kennedy has been an analyst at the SEC Network.

He's a very good coach. The job he did at Ole Miss was amazing, considering the rebels horrible arena (at the time), no recruiting base, no tradition, etc. I'd love to see what he could do at a power five school that's decent.

He always seemed to find that volume shooting guard that could win just about any game if he was on.

AK is a solid coach and a likable guy. He could never get off the bubble though. It’s fun for a few seasons but we were on the bubble every season and rarely made the big dance.

Homerun hire by UAB if true. There's no reason they shouldn't be on the bubble or securely in every year.

He will do well at a place where the recruiting game is more level. That was one of his biggest issues. Every 3-4 years he should have a really good team.

If he wants it, I hope he gets it. The selfish side of me will miss him calling games and doing the studio thing.

The SEC in general has really stepped up it's game in terms of good coaching but it seems that this is where a lot of "good" coaches are plateauing.

I even wonder if the Frank Martin trajectory will be more common even with some coaches that have started off well. Meaning: 4-5 bubble seasons for every 1 good to great season and some will be fired before the great season when everything comes together since now no one will put up with 4 straight bubble years.

It will be funny when they knock Ole Miss out of the NIT next year.

He is great in studio.

I like SECN's studio talent in general. Former Auburn guys like Fish and Chizik flourish there.

He had a bunch of 20 win seasons.

Not a bad hire.
