Former Ohio State coach, Zach Smith, attacks Dan Mullen

this guy's something else...definitely an axe to grind. He's gone after Texas' Tom Herman and Michigan's Jim Harbaugh in the past.
Now, Dan Mullen at Florida.
Does he make some valid points?
An excerpt from a podcast:
Co-host:
“I’d be interested to hear your thoughts about Dan Mullen at Florida. He has a chance to get to that level. Why hasn’t Florida gotten back to (elite) level?”
Smith: “Yeah, we talked about that at length, and the biggest thing is Dan Mullen is thrust into this conversation only because he is the coach at Florida. He would not be in this conversation based off his successes on the field — based on his resume, but he gets thrust into this group because he got the job at Florida. Why did he get the job at Florida? Because Florida wasn’t an attractive job. It wasn’t. The stadium’s not selling out, where they have really fallen off. The recruiting has been down to some extent, especially from the Urban Meyer era. So, why did he get the job? He got the job because Scott Frost didn’t want the job. Think about that. This is a job that was top 5 in the country in 2005 when Urban turned down Notre Dame to go to Florida. … He didn’t have the resume to get the Florida job that Urban Meyer got in 2005. Dan Mullen had the resume to get the Florida job in 2018.
“I don’t think he (Mullen) has the swagger to be a great head coach or to be a great recruiting head coach, but he’s a really good football coach.”
Interesting comments.

Dan Mullen is the most underrated coach in the country.

Isn't he the psycho that beat his wife? Why should we give a shite what he thinks?

Factually everything he said is correct, he is a douche bag no doubt but he is not wrong.

Zach Smith talking about someone else’s credentials for being a coach is laughable. This guy only got work as a WR coach because of who his grandpa was and by all accounts he was terrible at that job.
Mullen isn’t Meyer, but he’s a really good football coach. He does need to pick up the recruiting though.

Zach Smith is a total POS. Mullen is not the best, but he damn sure is in the Top 25.

I mean dude did go 5-7 in his 8th season as a Head coach with a loss to South Alabama (at home), Kentucky, And BYU. we came within a hair of being 3-8... Thank God we have A&M's number and pulled off a late victory against UMASS. We barely won a bowl game against Miami of Ohio. 17-16.
Gator fans think he's the best thing since sliced bread so I'll let them speak.

Accurate. Which is why he was so successful at State.

DAMN! DO you have a job?
Don't you think we should be asking YOU that question?
Of course, I do...it just doesn't involve forking over a pizza to a customer every 5 minutes like you do.

He left you in really great shape but your new man tits coach pissed a golden opportunity away. He had your team ranked no. 1 in the country. When will that happen again? Never. He needs to hire great recruiters because his a-hole yankee personality always shines through, but he gets the most out of his players and team. He is the best coach state will ever have.

Only record he needs to be concerned with is the one he has with police. That's what keeps him out of college football

Damn, you are insecure. People told us we’d never NEVER be ranked #1 at any point. Then it happened. Your post reeks of fear. Additionally, Mullen isn’t the best coach we’ve ever had FWIW. Allyn McKeen holds that title.

yeah that number 1 ranked team didn't beat anyone that finished in the poles ranked. I'm sure you already knew that though you just don't think I did. Nice try. Swing and a miss.

Great point, it was Saban's swagger that won him all those NCs.

Eh, he could be right. I’m gonna wait and see though. Dan could always find another gear nobody knew he had. He’s already a pretty good coach, and It’s happened before.

Realistically speaking, at Florida, Dan will always be 1 recruited QB away from a national championship. That’s his offense. He will not see national success until he gets HIS guy. While I don’t think Franks is that guy, he’s in a proof of concept stage trying to prove to his next QB that Florida is the place to be. Dan’s success has always been built on compounding interest. His results are always his best recruiting tool, not his personality or relationship with players. With that said, Florida is the perfect place to put that model into place.

I don't see his comments as an attack when what he said is true.
