Overall, TU.
A&M has quite a few Top 10 public university departments though. And #1 in world petroleum engineering. Great Vet school. Very strong Comp Sci, Engineering, Business. And for whatever reason a bunch of animators who end up at Pixar.
They totally outclass us in Liberal Arts and the like though.

Texas for the most part. They've been more careful about keeping the Top 10% rule at bay too.
A&M was right there with Texas just 10-15 years ago, but some missteps by our admin and pressure from the Texas Leg to open admissions has A&M lagging behind at the moment. I do wish A&M would follow UT's example in reducing the auto-admit threshold from top 10% to top 5%-7% like UT has. We can't absorb the rapidly increasing volume of students alone. Our campus has gotten overcrowded and faculty stretched way too thin to maintain the instruction standards that we had in the early 2000s.
