For the people who don't want to expand the NCAA football playoffs, I point to Exhibit A

The Houston vs Bama basketball game last night.

The argument I hear most of all is that an expanded playoff will render the regular season games meaningless. It would seem a little pre-Christmas basketball regular season game in Tuscaloosa against a team that isn't Power 5 and isn't even in the top 10 seemed to matter a whole bunch.

By the way, great atmosphere at Coleman, so hat's off to Bama fans.

I think the bigger argument is that there aren’t really 12 or 16 deserving teams. It’s cool when a 5 seed wins March Madness, but what makes college football special is the champion has to be close to perfect all season.

How many times has the 4 seed in the CFP been blown out? A lot. Not sure why anyone thinks 8 or 12 teams would matter in the end.

Yes, because basketball and football are like totally the same.

The 4 seed has also won it twice.

You know darn well that football teams don't travel as well as college basketball. And the Houston basketball program is not the cinderellas that readily come to mind when the NCAA seeds take place.

Best argument I’ve seen is it eliminates opt outs. Like the sugar bowl OU-FL game. Pitta and the crew would’ve played if it was in the playoff bracket.

If you get in the top 12 you are definitely deserving. What kind of stupid arse question is that? Notre Dame loses one game to a top 4 team and their season is over?

Well the #2 seed and the #1 seeds have also been blown out, so maybe we should go back to the days of awarding the national title after the regular season and before the bowl games? Ridiculous.

I’m not a fan of turning the Playoffs into a big tournament, but I support a small expansion that takes 2 top seeds and locks them in and then 4 teams fight for the other two final spots. Just to make sure we get the best 4 teams in the end.

Your argument just lost what little credibility it may have had.

A 12-team playoff would make some matter more and others matter less.
Example Ole Miss/A&M this past year would have mattered a lot more as it would have basically been a play-in game
However Michigan and Ohio St would have meaningless as both would have already been locks though I suppose a first round bye would’ve been in play. Still not quite the same
So there’s positives and negatives to both.
If you’re a blue blood like OSU/Alabama you hate the idea of a 12 team, more chances to lose, if you’re Ole Miss Arkansas Texas A&M etc, a 12 team playoff is great, a lot more chances to get once every few years.

Football plays once a week, basketball plays like 30 games. A field of 8 for basketball is more reasonable than 68 or whatever it is now.

Parity in football and parity in other sports is not apples to apples, nor is the impact and toll the game takes on a team in football vs the other Big 3 sports.

Dumb argument.

D3 has a 32 team playoff and have only seen 4 different champs over the last 15 playoffs, and 8 different champs since 1992.

Go with 8 teams so Bama might can get a mulligan if we slip up during the season

Yes, I know this is wrong but
