Football and Baseball money is good, but not compared to the BIG-10.

We need to add more sports to each University and spread some type of wealth in relation to our Network.

We obviously already share, but the SEC could really add alot more in the future to further add to our Conference as far as sports go.

We already have our own Network. Let's add to it.

Rutgers, Maryland and Iowa have Wrestling, Lacrosse, and Soccer.

They have it successfully.

Why can't we?

Money is money.

Soccer is gay. Feel like lacrosse would be cool even though I have no idea how the sport works

So, you don't know how money works in relation to something that involves a University that you "support."

You never graduated High School, did you?

Do you have nose rings, several tattoos, and work in a restaurant, by chance?

Those sports lose money.

The reason the B1g makes so much money is because they own their network. We make a lot of money off of our network, but so does ESPN. What we need to do is kick ESPN to the curb when our deal with them is up.

To show you how far these conferences have come in such a short period of time and how these numbers are increasing at an astronomical rate, consider that Big Ten teams received just $25 million per school in the 2013 fiscal year. The Big Ten has incredibly been able to double their revenue distribution for schools in just five short years. Yes, double. It’s astounding.

Michigan received a $51.1 million payout in 2018 from the conference largely thanks to a huge rights deal with ESPN and Fox and the success of the Big Ten Network.

Soccer doesn’t have to be a sport that loses money though. There are enough fans that if it was embraced by the universities and the Athletic departments it could take off. When you consider that pretty much all pro soccer players just skip college ball because it’s so unreasonably undersupported and there is no point. You get better training from MLS camps than college coaches most of the time ffs.

Say you add soccer for males, what sport do you add for females?

ETA That's the thing. No matter what sport you add, you must also add another one.

I don’t fricking know but they could come up with something. America can’t ignore the biggest sport in the world forever, especially in the age of worldwide connectivity. MLS is finally trying to get its shite together and college needs to follow.

They would be smart to renegotiate first, don't you think.

I would not exactly bite the hand that fed you over the years.

ESPN literally took a chance on us in the early 2000's. Thus, the contracts. Both the SEC and "them" have become a "bit" greedy over time.

College soccer is trash though. Almost anyone decent is going to be plucked out of highschool to play in a pro system.

I would like to see the SEC get wrestling going though.

but this thread is about making more money from athletics. Nude female mud wrestling is the only sport I can think of that would be a money generator for schools..........other than the ones we already have.

I’m saying that if ADs put money into stadiums and advertising their teams and getting proper coaches and proper training staffs, they would start making money on soccer in no time.

Graduated high school and college, have one tattoo, no piercings, and no I don’t work at a restaurant. I just strongly dislike soccer. There are loads of people who would agree with me too

Loads of people is relative I guess. There are millions of people that don’t like soccer, which seems large until you realize that billions do.

I agree with you that it is the biggest sport on the planet. i just dont see it making an impact even close to baseball has in the long run down south at the collegiate level

eta i used baseball because it is one of the lower revenue sports

Men's Soccer should be added for all SEC teams. And that may not currently be considered a revenue sports, but of all the non revenue sports, that easily will become one.

It will most likely be added when football inevitably reaches its bubble(which could be 20 years or maybe even 50)

I am not sure you are thinking this through.

Are you going to build soccer complexes or just let them destroy the turf on the football field? Again, what other sport for females are you going to start? Will the soccer program make enough money to support both of these programs?

The truth is..........most collegiate sports lose money. Football, basketball, and at some schools baseball support the rest of the athletic programs at a school.

ETA after me putting some thought into it......soccer could not be played in most college football stadiums because of the pitch of the field. If somebody stood at midfield of Jordan-Hare and kicked the ball towards the sideline, the ball would stop at the Gulf.
