If you could, give me your serious thoughts on the guy. I don’t like the idea of him taking over at Mizzou. Some of our fans are enamored. Tell me why I’m wrong.

He is a good coach for a small school, not in the SEC though. He had way to many issues behind the scenes and it added up quickly. Add in he is stubborn and kept bad coaches, didn't evolve the offense, and was way to cocky despite being unable to do quite a bit.
It would be a major failure for Missouri.

we're talking about McElwain, we already fired Odom so no need to keep talking about him

Odom changed his offense twice in 4 seasons and let his OC have complete control

I remember this picture of McElwain, after a loss, on the field with a big smile on his face standing next to his wife.
If I was a Florida fan that would have pissed me off.
Didn't he make up some shite about being harassed? I don't think he's all there, mentally.

He will do a great job for you, hire him immediately before someone else like Miami of OH, Akron or Northern Iowa snatch him first!!!

I was talking about the first and last part of what I quoted.

Why does every terrible Florida coach get another SEC East job?
The McCelwain vs Muschamp matchup would be really funny. That is, assuming Muschamp hasn’t been fired by then and USCe doesn’t have an interim coach.

No sour grapes here, Gatorbait. We all know that McElwain would be a great hire for Mizzou! Just because he failed at UF doesn't mean he won't be a big success at Mizzou, just look at Muschamp at U of SC.

To be honest, I was a little surprised McElwain was even able to get the CMU job after the fake death threats. I’d think something like that would have blackballed him from a Division III job.

I think if he's actually calling the plays, he's a capable coach and he's pretty good at identifying underrated talent.
His problem was the management side of things. He was lazy and didn't have the attention to detail and effort it requires to run a large program. Our Strength & Conditioning program was maybe among the worst in the nation under him.

So basically he should be a OC

I can't imagine he wants any part of the SEC again.
He's better off at a school like Central Michigan or less high profile gig.

His roster management left something to be desired. I don't know why anybody wants our retreads. If you can't make it work at Florida...

is this a legit hire or just general discussion?

His offenses were always bad. And his defense became bad too once Geoff Collins left and was replaced by Shannon.

There is an article about this on Saturdaydownsouth. Which granted isn’t exactly Brett McMurphy in terms of credibility.

I'm a little shocked at how quickly I forgot McElwain existed
