Not necessarily. My contention is that we are a far cry from having a patchwork OL like this other guy is saying.

I don’t think the OL has to be anything more than average. We have outstanding weapons at running back, wide receiver, and tight end. If they can be average, then our offense has pieces to be elite.

Franks just needs to figure out how to be good at passing in the SEC, and the OL must give him time to have any hopes at accomplishing that.

Just wait. You'll change your tune during the season.

What’s delusional about what I said? Our OL is not “patchwork”. You sound ignorant of our personnel, so I told you about it. I’m not saying we’ll have the best OL in the conference, but between personnel and Hevesy/Mullen’s track records with OL, we will be much better than patchwork.

Yup, that’s a major key. I think Mullen can hide some of the deficiencies with the OL with our scheme but they certainly have to progress.

I personally think we’ll be fine.

Buchanan was the lowest graded starter on an OL group that included two draft picks and all four guys on NFL teams now. Heggie is by all accounts healthy again and locking down a guard spot.

Jean Delance is the projected starter at right tackle. Former 4 star.

Richard Gouraige is battling for a tackle spot. Former 4 star.

Stone Forsythe is battling for a tackle spot. Former 3 star, but is 6’7 330 and has been in the program for 4 years now.

Noah Banks is battling for a guard spot. Former JUCO all American, been in the program for 2 years now, and played a ton last year.

Chris Bleich is battling for a guard spot. Former 3 star, but has impressed in his chances and the coaches have been high on him.

Also have former 4 star recruit TJ Moore battling for a spot. Former 3 star Griffin McDowell is on the roster but isn’t healthy

Then you have 4 out of 7 true freshmen coming in that are 4 star recruits. None of which will likely see playing time this year.

Your impression of Florida’s OL isn’t accurate.

Here's the bottom 10 grades for UF offensive personnel with a minimum of 40 snaps through the regular season last year. Very poor grades for many of the guys UF will be depending heavily upon along the OL.

BOTTOM 10 GRADES
10. OT Jean Delance - 58.0 (41 snaps)
9. OG Brett Heggie - 57.5 (165 snaps)
8. TE Kyle Pitts - 57.5 (110 snaps)
7. TE C'yontai Lewis - 57.1 (421 snaps)
7. C Nick Buchanan - 57.1 (724 snaps)
5. WR Rick Wells - 57.0 (48 snaps)
4. OG Christopher Bleich - 56.5 (49 snaps)
3. WR Daquon Green - 55.4 (42 snaps)
2. TE Kemore Gamble - 54.2 (139 snaps)
1. TE R.J. Raymond - 50.3 (61 snaps)

Note: Minimum of 40 snaps.

PFF disagrees with you.

So the offensive line was fine last year, average to above average with Buchanan at center.

Stone Forsythe at left tackle
Noah Banks at left guard
Brett Heggie (healthy now) at right guard
And Delance or Gouraige at right tackle.

Still not patchwork. Will still be fine. What does PFF say about your returning wide receivers? Not enough data?

I say that because Franks built his improved stats on weak OOC competition, but struggled big time in SEC play.

I think the difference is we are bringing in elite talent at our major question mark.

Yeah, I got ya. I agree. I do think that he turned a corner in the second half against South Carolina (I know, a tired talking point probably).

Think of it this way- the last two years, Georgia’s football team had a feel about them that they were in control of games. Jake Fromm controlled the game and had a really good feel for the offense and what they were trying to do. It felt like Feleipe got that kind of comfort in the system for the last quarter of the season. Once he realized he’s 6’6 240 lb and kinda isn’t easy to tackle when he runs hard.

I’m interested to see what next step he can take.

I can tell you from experience, the only way Mullen can hide the deficiencies in the OL this year is to have a quick trigger man and a good screen game, ala Bobo’s last couple of years at UGA. QB will have to be able to read and process defenses quickly and have the ball out of his hands in under 3 seconds. It won’t ahow up though until you play LSU, Auburn, Mizz, UGA, and possibly USC. Patchwork lines work against everyone else because the QB will have another 1/2 second to make the decision and pull the trigger. Mullen may limit Franks to only having to read 1/2 the field against top D-lines. However against top defenses (LSU, Auburn, UGA) he will struggle unless he has really grown between the ears this year on reading defenses.

Just being honest.

The sad thing is he really is a legit NFL prospect with his size and arm strength. Probably a 5th round pick somewhere. He does not have elite processing and his accuracy is marginal which means he probably holds a clip board for 3-4 years with someone giving him a real shot in his second or third year in the league. If he wants to get to a second contract he is going to have to put in serious work in the film room and improve his accuracy...Either that or be a good teammate which he has not demonstrated so far.

Meanwhile UF will probably be reinstating their bad boy. Heard the charges mysteriously went away. Some of us have standards for proper behavior and some of us don’t, I guess.
