Just heard an interesting stat in a video I was watching about recruiting and the transfer portal. The person said that only about 41% of the players that enter the portal will be picked up by another team. So for around 59% of these kids, their major college football career could be in jeopardy/over when they enter the portal.
Never thought about that.

I saw a video of Coach Prime telling his players at Jackson State this very thing. Advising them not to hit the portal because some or most would not be picked up by another team.

Brockermyer surprises me.
It has been surprising that he get not get meaningful snaps in the rotation as a highly rated 5 star 2 years into the program with as bad as our OL has been. Seems the rating services were not very good with his evaluation.

I could see this as they are expecting close to 2000 to enter. I believe since yesterday over 900 entered already.

If we lost 5 OL, we wouldn’t be able to field a squad. Damn y’all loaded up.

JoJo and Cohen are the only real losses and they aren't major. JoJo got passed up by freshman and Cohen was about to lose his job to a freshman.
Frees up much needed space.

The reality is that entering the portal doesn't end your scholarship at the school you're at. The school chooses to do that or not.
For example, when Mims entered the portal for UGA last year, he later came out of the portal and still was on scholarship at UGA.
Signing transfer papers or getting your scholarship revoked is what ends your time at your current school.
I do think that a fair number of guys entering the portal are doing so because they're forced to do so by the team telling them they won't be on scholarship the next season. Those are the ones who end up not finding a landing spot and not playing again. It's one of the overlooked consequences of the changes to CFB with the portal and transfer rules... teams can run off failed players without the blowback that caused in years past. Schools can hide cutting players by insinuating they entered the portal on their own rather than having their scholarship cut.

They ultimately lost their scholarships, a college education and any future chance of playing college ball.
