I don’t feel bad for Duke. They have been healthy all year.

It’s just an ankle sprain.

Broome was only out 7 days.

He will be fine.

Lock into a one seed, that is, right? Like Auburn. Florida would be if they win their first game. I hate Conference tournaments anyway. I hate how a team can dominate (mid-majors) in the regular season, slip up, and get locked out of the dance.

Ankle sprains are finnicky. Could be out two weeks, could be out two months. Hard to know for certain.

Tournaments and Football Championships should be incorporated into the playoffs.

Josh Pate has eluded to this happening. The teams that finish 1-2 during the regular season get auto bids to the playoff and don’t have to play in the conference championship.

The “conference championship” will be between 3-4 and the winner of that game gets the 3rd playoff auto bid for the conference. This is all starting the 2026 season at the earliest. And it honestly makes the most sense.

Can I ask why? They are the #5 team in the country. Where do you think they should be ranked?

So you think each conference should get 3 auto bids? That sounds awful imo.

Agreed. I've watched them a good bit this year because I really like Flagg, but I've seen them look mid a lot. The ACC is arse this year, thus the great record for Duke. I don't see how anybody can bet against a healthy Auburn right now.

I'm not saying Duke is ranked "too high", I just don't think they have what it takes to win it all...given their resume, they're probably ranked correctly. They do have some good wins.

Gotcha. It was a genuine question, as I haven't kept up with basketball much this year so I don't know the general consensus on Duke is

Depends on how bad he sprained it. A bad high ankle sprain is worse than a break sometimes.

That's up to the individual conferences, I believe. I think the Ivy League gives their regular season champ the auto bid.

The Big 10 and SEC, yes. Especially when it expands to 16 teams

But that’s not what you said. And that’s already basically a guarantee as it is now. Your model wouldn’t change anything. Either get rid of conference championship games all together and expand to the playoff or leave them separate. Trying to merge them is dumb.

Conferences can choose to give the auto bid to the regular season champ if they so choose, up to each conference.
