LSU, Auburn, Alabama
41 carries, 89 yards (2.2 YPC), 0 Rush TDs
39/91 (43%)
149 YPG Passing
2 TD / 2 INT
Has he improved enough since then to put up solid numbers against a competent defense?

Really? You don't think so?
I have no idea and haven't watched State play a snap this season, so I was genuinely wondering what the feeling was on his improvement since last year.

Not sure if he needs to do much. Granthams wrecking crew isn't giving up a point.

His numbers are misleading against Auburn. He could not have been worse early in the game. After Auburn built a lead that State had no chance to overcome, he started putting up some decent numbers. Garbage time numbers mean crap

I see the grind is avoiding this thread

Yeah, his number vs LSU I can let go. First road start. Rushing he did ok vs Auburn. Not great. He also had no TE production to speak of and MSU had a 160 pound back starting.
The question is has he become comfortable in big games. His major issue is that he gets over amp'd in bigger games.
So far, yes. He is better. Defense will keep them in games.

I look forward to watching another defense flail its arms helplessly at the sideline because they have no idea what fricking formation or coverage they're supposed to be in because Grantham refuses to simplify his defense for college kids

Here is to hoping the mississippi schools stay in the basement where they belong.

He is not going to be the issue. His offensive line will not be able to block LSU though. He also does not have a good receiver group to throw to. We will struggle on offense.

Grantham changed his defense up at Louisville to make it easier to learn.

And yet they were still routinely lit up like a Christmas tree

We put up 37 points against his most talented and experienced D at Louisville. I don't know that our current offense can score 37 points on anyone but Grantham's D won't be the main culprit in the case of UGA vs MSU.

They were pretty good for the caliber of athlete that they attract at that program. Louisville does not recruit as good of an athlete as he will coach at State. He is not going to be the next Nick Saban on defense, but he will field a unit that can keep us in games. That's an improvement from what we have had.

MSU recruiting on defense > Louisville recruiting on defense
