Give it up. There is no sense in trying to explain anything to most of the people on here. The FBI doesn't get involved in issues like this especially after less than a week unless it is part of an ongoing investigation. It has been reported by more than one media outlet that the FBI got involved in this case due to an ongoing investigation of agents in college sports. There is only one agent that has been named in this case so it doesn't take a genius to figure out why they are involved. That doesn't mean that Auburn or the Newtons are innocent but the FBI didn't get involved to get to the bottom of the Cam Newton investigation.

You gotta give it to the Aubs - they are a creative bunch aren't they?

This is just a prelim theory, but when I hear "extortion", it makes me think that Ken Rogers was trying to extort money from the Newton's to keep quiet about discussions that they had about $$.
Now, that does NOT mean those discussions actually happened... it would jus mean that Rogers said "pay me or I will announce that you guys were trying to get money from MSU". Newton's tell him to pound sand. He tells a story (true or not) about the Newton's trying to get paid.
Extortion, but no pay for play!!
Or maybe, Rogers was trying to extort money from MSU coaches for their actions in the recruiting. That would explain the part about MSU not submitting a report to the SEC office.

Eh, the FBI got involved in the Bush case as well, because it was a possible extortion case. Obviously nothing ever came of it, well, extortion-wise.

ESPN just said the FBI was involved because it was a possible extortion case.
That's a whole new level.
Wonder if he will roll over and spill the beans to the feds?
This would make me nervouse as all get out if my team signed his son.

Does... not... compute...
Too... much... logic...

If Rogers is under FBI investigation for extortion, why does he volunteer info on the radio yesterday? If I'm under investigation, I go under a rock.
Good grief, I'll be glad when this is over.

You give him too much credit.
He's a moron.
He's under investigation for 15 allegations by the NFLPA. This is no joke.

The reason AU should be worried about the FBI, is they will cast a very wide net in their investigation and they have the power to stir up a lot of shite which could do a lot of collateral damage.
For example, we're all pretty sure AU bought Cam. Theres just no solid proof.
The FBI could turn it up as part of their investigation, where the NCAA wouldnt have been able to.

And being investigated by the NFLPA carries the same weight... no, more weight... than the FBI investigating you.
Tell his arse to watch out, the Opelika Lion's Club is about to fricking investigate his arse!

Before I click, which one of those provides proof that Rogers extorted the Newtons?

I may very well be that Rogers was trying to extort $ from the Newtons but that only makes sense if he knows the goods are out there to nail them, like tape recorded conversation where Cam's dad asks for $.......which would still mean that Cam was ineligible all season.
