This is essentially any time someone asks if Team X can beat Team Y from any other year.

Like people debating who would win in a fight, Goku or Superman.

Better debates are:
Who had the better season?

Which team will be remembered outside of their respective fanbases 25 years from now?

Could Team X survive in Era Z with the changes to the rules that have occurred over the years?

Which era do you prefer, in regards to those rules?

But nah, let's spend time debating who would win a hypothetical playoff between 1995 Nebraska, 2001 Miami, 2011 Alabama and 2019 LSU. Because THAT debate will remain rooted in logic and civil discourse.

It would be a close championship game between 11Bama and 19LSU.

Late 4th quarter 3rd and long converted by Burrow running. Then hitting Chase for the game winning touchdown.

23-20 LSU

Too many people are now turning the tide of the debate that 2019 LSU did things that no one ever did.

They thrashed everyone sans AU/Bama in the SEC. sec fans should know how hard it is to go 15-0 since they have never done it.

Somewhere along the way LSU was SURELY going to stumble, right? No.

That 2001 Miami team couldn’t put away Boston college or va tech nor did they play in a playoff but beat a non 95 Nebraska with Eric crouch, not T Lawrence.

There’s no debate except the crab-sec fans that see the best but are not allowed to recognize greatness

It is fair to say no one has ever gone 15-0, but it's also fair that we don't know if previous teams wouldn't have gone 15-0. Could 1966 Alabama? Could 2010 Auburn? Could 1998 Tennessee? Could 1958 LSU? There's no way to know because you simply didn't play 15 games in a season back then.

It's like the "Total Yards" or "Total TDs" vs "YPG" and "PPG" metrics.

If you're #1 in one of the first two categories, but not in the associated other category, then you're #1 because the seasons are longer.

Also, TDs and Yards per attempt, as a lot of QBs may have played in fewer games but still threw a lot more passes.

Case in point:
Most TDs in a season:
Burrow - 60 / Brennan - 58 / Klingler - 54
Most TDs per game:
Klingler - 4.9 / Brennan - 4.1 / Burrow - 4
Fewest Attempts per TD:
Burrow - 8.8 / Brennan - 9.6 / Klingler - 11.9

Hell, Roger Maris had an * next to his name because even though he broke the HR record, he played in 10 more games than Ruth did.

I'm sure people will interpret this as me trying to reduce Burrow's accomplishments, but I'm not - honestly, if he had thrown as many passes as either Brennan or Klingler, his numbers would be even more ridiculous. (Assuming that production remained constant). Hell, he'd have thrown for 73 TDs if he had thrown as often as Klingler. The inverse can be said though about number of games - if Klingler had played in as many games as Burrow, he'd have thrown for 74 TDs. Of course, he'd have thrown it 877 times - and Burrow would have 100 TDs (and probably some kind of permanent condition where his arm would randomly engage in a throwing motion on its own) with that many attempts.

Greatest SEC team - 11 Bama

They weren't even better than 2012 Bama.

That Bama team was beatable and lost...at home...

We don’t know if the others were beatable, though Miami was a 4th quarter two point conversion from being tied with 5 min left to Va Tech.

The debate for greatest team ever is down to 2019 LSU and 1995 Nebraska.

LSU beat 7 top 10 teams.
Nebraska beat the shite out of everyone.

Nebraska played four top 10 teams:

Won 49-25
Won 44-21
Won 41-3
Won 62-24

2011 Alabama football lost a game. They aren't even in the discussion, although that was a very good team.

2001 Miami was very good, but only played one top 10 team, and almost got beat by Virginia Tech.

As far as flashy and just fun to watch offenses (and I am doing my best to be unbiased), I'd have to give that honor to 2018 Bama. Tua was unstoppable until 44-16 and really fun to watch except against us.

But, our 2019 offense was just a juggernaut and I believe it was overall the best as far as effectiveness. No one could stop us. No defense in the college game would have been able to do it.

It's not like Burrow was flashy and threw the prettiest balls (he did not, some were ducky) but they were accurate and found their way to the right guy and often in stride (though I thought in 2018 Tua was better at that). Burrow only threw interceptions this season when he got careless which was against seriously inferior opponents who really had no chance to beat us.

I just simulated '95 Nebraska vs. '19 LSU at NCAAGameSim.com at a neutral site.

In 36 simulations:

Average score: LSU 42.3, Nebraska 32.6. The game was decided by 5 points or less 7 times.

LSU won 27 times, Nebraska won 9.

There were two games that ended in overtime.

LSU won by 20 points or more 11 times.
