I did the other CFP years last week (see my post history) but for some reason 2019 post went missing. So I'm posting it again...

Just doing this for shits and giggles. Don't @ me.

I've included the team's final college football playoff ranking in parenthesis if it differed from the seeding shown here.

*denotes team is an automatic conference champion qualifier.

Of Note: This one is pretty straight forward. Auburn did finish in the 12 spot, but is bumped for American Conference Champion, Memphis (17).

Round 1
Florida vs. Wisconsin
Florida finished 11-2 on the season with both loses coming from top 10 teams. A 42-28 L to eventual champion LSU and a 24-17 defeat at the hands of SEC East winner, UGA. They finished with only two ranked wins; No. 7 Auburn and No. 24 Virginia in the Orange Bowl. Wisconsin finished with a 10-4 overall record. They had 3 ranked wins and their losses were to unranked Illinois, No. 3/No.1 Ohio State, and No.6 Oregon in the Rose Bowl. I’m going to give this one to Wisconsin for no other reason than I don’t like Florida.

Georgia vs. Memphis
Memphis lost 53-39 to Penn State in the Cotton Bowl. UGA’s only two losses were in double OT to South Carolina and in the SEC Championship to LSU. Dawgs roll in this one.

Utah vs. Oregon
This would be a rematch of the Pac-12 Championship game a few weeks earlier where the Ducks rolled the Utes 37-15. Utah would also go on to lose to an 8-5 Texas team in the Alamo Bowl 38-10. Oregon wins this one.

Baylor vs. Penn State
Baylor had ZERO ranked wins this year. Everyone they played with a number next to their name they lost to, finishing 11-3 overall. Penn State wasn’t much better, finishing 11-2 going 3-2 against ranked opponents. Give me Baylor just for kicks.

Quarters
LSU vs. Wisconsin
LSU takes care of business here pretty easily. Wisconsin had two shots at Ohio State and lost by a combined 44 points.

Georgia vs Oklahoma
You’re playing for a chance to lose to LSU here. Which both teams did this year, but UGA was at least a little competitive at first. Give me UGA here.

Oregon vs. Clemson
I’m going to default to the final CFP rankings and say that Clemson wins this one. I think they have more NFL talent and nothing about Oregon tells me they would be capable of a victory here.

Baylor vs. Ohio State
Ohio States only loss was their last game against Clemson in the Semis. Again Baylor didn’t have a single ranked win. Give me tOSU here.

Semifinals
LSU vs. Georgia
We’ve seen how this one ends. Geaux Tigers

Clemson vs. Ohio State
Ditto…. Clemson.

Final
LSU vs. Clemson
Different means, same end.
Geaux Tigers!

It would have been very unfortunate if we never had the opportunity to watch LSU play Oklahoma and see Burrow carve up that defense in the first half.

It was certainly a sight to behold.

The more I did these the more and more I didn't like all the rematches, especially of conference championship games that happened only a week or two earlier...

Granted, I made some assumptions regarding seeding, but it's bound to happen.

All good.

These twelve team playoffs are going to produce some injured superstars that will end up diminishing the allure of the playoff.

Too much competitive football to where A guy like Lawrence, Devonte, or burrow won’t make it to the final and the final will be a dud.

This alone is reason enough to hate the CFP.

Think of this scenario: LSU beats UF in the regular season. Both teams win their divisions and meet in the SECCG, and LSU wins again, finishing 13-0 and the top seed in the CFP. But UF finishes 11-2, and is among the six at-large teams in the CFP, ranked #8 (as opposed to #9 in your 2019 example above).

So, the Gators get homefield advantage against a P5 runner up from a weaker conference/G5 conference champ, and they cruise to victory - setting up a THIRD matchup with LSU.

How would you feel about your season if Florida wins the third game?

Yea. The rematch of conference champions in these scenarios happened more often than I care for. And it has already been said they wont mess with seedings to avoid said rematches.

They were ranked 13th in the final CFP poll.
