Humans are competitive creatures. We make fun of winners.

We make fun of successful teams with a realistic shot. Teams that we get up on gameday for.

Georgia is one such team. Always in the hunt.

It is for this reason , that nobody brings up 1939. For those unaware, (which is everyone below the age of 80 that doesnt read wikipedia) A&M won a natty that year under the watchful eye of Roosevelt.

No, humans attack success.

We also attack cringe, like a program posting a painting of a 2 point win over an NY6 team.

Thought this was interesting.

In two years, we can use this gif with extreme prejudice.

I see 1939 used quite a bit.

But want to really scratch your head?

The first - and I mean VERY first - NCAA championship Aggy won was in Men's competition, 2009. Golf. 11 years ago.

Big Cigars. Oil rich. Endowments. Runts.

1939 gets brought up on this board at least once a week. This very thread is a troll against Aggie fans.

This can't possibly be right. That's basically on the same level as Mississippi State until 2009. I need a Texas A&M fan to confirm this for me.

They appear to be on the rise with Fisher, but I really can't for the life of me figure out why A&M has struggled so much in the big sports - especially football. They really are a sleeping giant in almost every way, and every year, despite jabs on message boards, I secretly expect them to awaken and start terrorizing the world of college athletics. It's never happened. They come close sometimes, but it's always fool's gold or some flash in the pan level of success that doesn't get sustained the next year.

I'm not sure I can ever stop myself from thinking it's just a matter of time for them. All the pieces seem to be in place. They have to eventually stop scratching on the eight ball.

Not like 1980, though. A Georgia fan almost can't open their mouths without being hit with a barrage of 1980 comments. It's ridiculously prevalent.

People bring up 1939 sometimes when an A&M fan steps out of line, but UGA fans literally can't engage in any kind of sports talk without it. The Big Six teams intuitively know it's punching down to shite talk TAMU's lack of success, whereas it's attacking a worthy foe when they go for Georgia.

And for good reason. Georgia Tech has won a national championship in college football more recently than Georgia has. That's flat-out embarrassing.

UGA hasn’t won since 1980, your premise is invalid. Hence the 1980 memes stand.

It’s on here almost daily. Just see sidewalk’s threads.

Also this past year’s 4th place finish was their highest final ranking since then as well...

Better be. They got the second-best coach in the SEC.

so who’s worried about who, then?

I see dozens of LSU threads by Alabama and aggy posters about “not being worried”.

Expound further.

Is he really though?

The bulk of his wins came against the weak arse ACC while he was hauling in top 5 recruiting classes until Dabo ran him out of the conference with less talent on paper.

Jimbo built his reputation before the current offensive revolution and if we're being honest, has not had an elite team since then.

Even last season, he still lost by 28 to Alabama, only beat Vandy by 5, only scored 13 on LSU's shite defense (less than everyone but Vandy).

Not sure what you call a great coach then. Jimbo had one lousy year at FSU and that team was devastated by injury. His teams are filled with NFL players. We took one of them in Dickerson. He can recruit and he can get them ready. He's more the X and O than Dabo ever thought about being. Dabo has almost zero attrition in his coaching staff. Probably his greatest achievement as HC in keeping things going and basically, no ACC competition, that always helps.

This is a big year for his program because it's not just about the QB at College Station, it's also about sustaining what he's building on both sides of the LOS. He's got the horses to play from the inside out. As we all shall find out.

And getting beat by that Alabama team with Waddle playing in that game was no different than Ohio State eating the same 52-24 sandwich.
