Why are you pretending to be a UGA fan? Everyone knows you are an Arkansas fan.

FOUR NATTYS.

1909- Undefeated and shut out EVERY opponent
1964- Natty after Bowl
1965- Natty Pre- Bowl
1977- Natty

1964 and 1965 is the exact same thing Bama claims, in the exact same way 1 pre-bowls, 1 post-bowls.

It's 4.

1977?

Thank you for pointing out what a wild loony finish the 1977 season had.

#1 Texas lost 38-10 to #5 Notre Dame in the Cotton Bowl
Arkansas lost to then #2 Texas in October by a 13-9 score
Notre Dame lost to unranked (finished 5-6) Ole Miss by a 20-13 score
#3 Bama destroyed #9 Ohio State 35-6 in the Sugar Bowl
#6 Arkansas destroyed #2 Oklahoma 31-6 in the Orange Bowl
Then #2 Oklahoma had lost to then #5 Texas in October by a 13-6 score
Sidenote: Penn State had only one loss as well, to Kentucky. Kentucky was also a one loss team in 1977 but was ineligible due to being on probation. Kentucky's sole loss was to Baylor that year, who finished 5-6. Penn State was relegated to the Fiesta Bowl where they played Arizona State, which was in the WAC at the time.

ETA: Kentucky's final ranking of #6 is their highest final ranking EVER. They also finished #7 in 1950, when Bear Bryant went 11-1 and won the Sugar Bowl. 1950 & 1977 are Kentucky's only two seasons to finish ranked in the top 10.

Guess which team was ranked #1 after the bowls?

This, younguns, is why we have the CFP today.

Fun fact: Georgia's 1942 national title was awarded to them by, not the AP or UPI, but Houlgate!

That means the Dogs only have one legit national championship. Ouch.

Harry, congratulations on Arkansas' 16-2 win over 1968 "National Champion" Georgia in the Sugar Bowl.
