Muschamp inherits Meyers crumbling empire. Goes 7-6 11-2 with no titles in a weak east. then in year 3 gets train raped by Mizzou and Vandy then loses to GA Southern. Come back for year 4.

McElwain wins b2b east titles at 19-4 and 9-4. Starts year 3 3-4 without any completely embarrassing football related moments and he's gone.

Is death threat gate really the only thing causing this escalation?

Blame Saban

New hires are being measured against an impossible standard

The internet turns these coaching changes into microwave situations. Started and finished in less than 5 minutes.

Based on Stricklin in the presser, it definitely was because of the death threat accusations. Unless there are more skeletons (shark, hookers, etc.)

Let's just make rhis clear.

UF did not like Mac. Mac constantly crossed with the administration. It's that simple. Let's go for a few examples.

Called out the facilities publically year one. They needed to be addressed, but that is done privately.

Did not go to Strickalnd's press conference when he got hired.

Tried to force UF to pull money from other programs, including the new Baseball stadium.

Did not attend UF sporting events. Just wasn't a "program" guy. UF expects this of their coaches.

Shark fricking incident and how he handled it was bad. I don't think it's him, but it wasn't done well.

He called out the AD after his bowl win, even jokingly that is insanely stupid.

He was 3-4, and zero offensive improvement for three years. Simply not good enough on the field to cover for his a-hole moves off it.

Faked death threats, or if real, called them out publically, then didn't provide details.

Long story shot. Mac had to go. He was hated, simple as that. Muschamp went 4-8 and got a forth year, because everyone in the program loved the guy. He was a class act.

Mac was not, and he did not handle himself in a professional manner, and poorly represented the University.

He had to go. See his 1 million buyout? Clearly, even the best agent in CFB can't argue UF's reasons for fire him. So no. We are not trigger happy.

He had the rest of the year without question, until he opened his mouth again. That was his final straw. 3-4, and continuously embarrassing the University and pissing everyone off behind the scenes.

As Strickland said. We expect to compete for titles at UF. 17 of our 21 programs are currently, or will start the year ranked. The resources are here, we expect to win a lot of games and compete with top programs.

Mac did not compete. He did not meet the UF standard.

Also no embarassing football moments?

Besides a major credit card scandal?

Besides embarrased on national TV by Michigan in year three?

Besides the worst record in first seven games since 1979? Besides the worst loss to Georgia in 30 years? Besides the least blue chips on a Florida roster in 20 years?

His record sucked. 9-4 is not a great coaching job at Florida after year one. For Spurrier or Meyer that is an incredibly down year. For Mac it was his absolute peak. So no..he did not do enough on the field to earn staying here.

Every one figures if they are the first to fire they have a leg up in the hunt.

These are teams that fired their coach because of disastrous seasons, so the pieces for instant success are probably not ALL there to begin with.

Unfortunately finding Saban 2.0 is the new goal. Being a coach in the SEC is a dream that can quickly turn into a nightmare, the SECW is worse because they know the expectation and they are unrealistic.

Couple that with the fact that any new coach that comes in knows that in 2 years he is not only supposed to be competing for a conference title and NC, but unseating the BAMA machine in the process. BAMA has way to much of a leg up for that.

Saban was able to pull it in a time when there wasn't a truly dominant team like BAMA is now at that time. His quick success and proven track record enabled him to recruit well, really well and the ball got rolling.

Florida had two all time great head coaches/offensive minds and now expect every coach to meet that standard. Guys like Spurrier and Meyer don't grow on trees.

We can start by not losing to every other team in the Division except for Arkansas.

Here's Sumlin.

VS. SEC West teams not named Arkansas, Sumlin is 9-18, looking at 9-21. That INCLUDES 6-4 with Manziel.

Honestly. We just want competent offense and that is a bs claim. One year in the last six we had an offense ranked inside the top 100.

To claim we are irrational for wanting better offense than that is absolutely ridiculous. No SEC program would be happy with that level of poor play on a side of the ball. Even Vandy.
