I feel like we’ve been to Omaha since 2017 but I can’t quite put my finger on it…

also, the finals could be all-SEC for the 3rd time in last 5 years with 6 different teams appearing in the all-SEC finals. Add in Arkansas 2018 and the SEC will have had half its members in the CWS finals in the last 5 years. Insane.

Doubt that’s changing anytime soon. Stuck as a bubble team with the current staff.
Spend close to $70 million on baseball facilities in 2016. Then go cheap on coaching hires.

Our baseball program sucks arse. We know this

We've been too busy winning football championships. ;)
In all seriousness, we're actually pretty annoyed at the direction of the baseball program. There was a time when we were second or third best in the conference historically, but now...

It’s because of the state laws regarding scholarships. It’s literally impossible for an Alabama school to make it to Omaha.

There was a time when that argument seemed to hold water. Both programs were in disarray at the same time. But clearly Butch Thompson has proven you can build a winner with the current limitations.

But think of all the money saved by not spending $4.50 for a 25 cent jello shot.

Meh, it goes back to scholarships. Bama is playing with 11.7 only. Yea, auburn. But they won’t sustain what they did this year. They’ll be back on bamas level sooner than later.
U can build all the new stadiums u want, practice facilities but if u have a team paying 70 percent of their tuition and all their living expenses you’re handcuffed to a point where is it even feasible to field a team. None of these sec west schools in the cws were there about as often as Bama until they got the schollies.

I think it’s time you gave them credit. Three super regionals in 5 seasons. Two appearances in Omaha. It can be done with the limitations in place. Yes, they are more likely to have bumps in the road (losing season in 2021). But the lack of depth can be overcome with quality coaching and great development. Auburn has plenty of both.

Thompson has been to the NCAA Tournament 4 of the last 5 seasons and the CWS 2 of the last 5. They've been to the supers 3 of the last 5. They aren't having some one off year. Thompson has built a competitive program.
Scholarship excuses are weak and Auburn has proven why. Scholarship limitations are a reasonable barrier to being a top 10 team every season. They are not a reasonable barrier to consistently being an NCAA Tournament team.
