Even if the Ole Miss rumors were true, it would be a non-issue.

The rumors claim Cohen called the commissioner and the Ole Miss chancellor.

If this is true, the obvious path forward is for both schools to dismiss/not accept the player in question and to self report to the NCAA. Player never played after incident and no punishment comes from it.

If this silly rumor is true, then this would be my guess as to the plan coming from the alleged talks.

Neither MSU or OM wants rogue boosters doing this kind of thing so I would guess they are probably working with each other.

This whole thing is probably bullshite anyways

The booster allegedly in question is already disassociated from the university. I'm not sure what the NCAA would want Ole Miss to do further than that. They can't tell a private citizen what they can spend their money on

Ole Miss couldn’t get in trouble for the booster, but they could get in trouble for knowingly playing an ineligible player without self reporting.

Mississippi State could as well if the player dropped out of the portal.

The booster is still a booster whether he is disassociated or not.

Why is this hard to understand.

We are all private citizens... Well there some that are wards of the state. Some of them have been very prominent boosters to your University.

rogue boosters

I don't think I've read anything that outlines exactly what the rogue booster did? Did he just hand over some cash to the two defectors?

I just see the posts that the rogue booster in question, who may be an attorney in Jackson, possibly the same listed in the Freeze/NCAA saga, is now doing something under the table?

It all just seems incredibly vague

That is correct. When your are dissociated as a booster you lose all access to booster benefits, but you are still a booster under the NCAA

So what's to stop him from saying "oh I was actually trying to get him to transfer to Alabama"? There are a ton of boosters who could pretend they are working for another university and get caught on purpose if that was the case.

And if Ole Miss administration has had no contact with this dude since he was disassociated, why should they be punished for his actions?

You are wrong if u think that ole miss, a program that's just now coming off of sanctions from previous cheating, won't get hit again. It won't be as bad as it was with the last time, but ole miss is a little bitch of a program trying to compete in the toughest division of college football by blatantly cheating...the NCAA won't let it slide without something done about it. Not gonna happen.

The player also has a responsibility.

Cease and desist letter.

You should probably try and self police a little better. Maybe keep some things confidential. Hire a door guy and have a coat room for coats and electronic devices. Proper security team in place. Escape routes, helo pad. Etc.

If you want to party learn how to do it with class and style.

- Post-Eli Ole Miss goes back to being Ole Miss; Rebs fire Cutt and bring in a renowned recruiter as their HC.
- Kang Jackie takes on the NCAA
- Ole Miss has a student referendum on what mascot will replace Col. Reb. All options suck and the students reject referendum

- 2007: Orge gets his best win in Oxford, beating his alma mater Northwestern State; State has first winning season and bowl win since 2000
- Ole Miss decides they want a coach instead of a recruiter
- Credits roll on the left side of the screen while State's players celebrating and hosting the Autozone Liberty Bowl trophy over future National Champions - UCF - at prestigious Liberty Bowl stadium with players showing of their FedEx and Rendezvous BBQ swag packs.

- Ole Miss returns to being Ole Miss, including an OT loss to 1AA Jacksonville State; Ole Miss fans begin to realize that Nutt was just winning with the talent in the cupboard stocked by Orge
- Mullen takes State back to post-season play and wins two bowl games, while Ole Miss becomes a Lafayette County sized dumpster fire
- Ole Miss fires Nutt and hires a promising Sunbelt coach with good Christian morals named Hugh Freeze

Part 4: More Success* (2012-2014)
- State returns to Gator Bowl - first time in school history they have been to bowls 3 seasons in a row, RS Freshman QB named Dak shows promise in limited action; Freeze takes Ole Miss bowling, even if it is just to Birmingham
- Both schools continue trending upwards, hauling in some big time recruits; rumors of Mullen leaving Starkville come up, but he stays in Starkville and Dak begins showing real talent
- Both schools ranked in the top four of the initial CFP rankings; Ole Miss loses to LSU which begins a dismal skid to end the regular season where their only D1 win was against State; State's Egg Bowl loss takes them out of the #4 spot in the CFP rankings
- Credits roll on the left side of the screen while the Mississippi Mayhem SI cover is displayed on the right

Some shitty rumors posted by jjdoc about how an Ole Miss booster contacted a MSU player pre-transfer portal and paid him at some party or something.

He got people wound up with his nonsense insider info like usual.

Logical explanation for players entering transfer portal is definitely ole miss boosters paying them to enter the transfer portal at a party before even committing to ole miss, and not that they don’t like Leach.

Part 5: The Higher They Rise, The Harder They Fall (2015-2017) First half
- Dak comes back for his Senior year saying he wants more development into a pro-style QB
- Ole Miss goes to Tuscaloosa and beats Alabama, the first time Ole Miss wins back-to-back games vs. Alabama in program history; then 4th and 25
- State's season ends disappointingly never cracking higher than #20 in the polls; State fans optimistic that Mullen can continue to develop overlooked QBs
- Jan. 2016: NCAA hits Ole Miss with a NOA, hundreds of Ole Miss fans call Paul Finebaum saying, "they ain't got nothin' Pawl," "errybody's cheatin' Pawl", and "all that cheatin' was done under Nutt, Pawl, and we already fired him!"; Ole Miss AD Bjork hears this and decides to adopt this last argument as the university's official position
- 2016 NFL draft: Dak is drafted in the 4th round, but that is a footnote to Tunsil's phone being "hacked" the night before the NFL draft
- NCAA investigators give Oxford the most out of town business on a non-gameday weekend not named Double Decker Festival Weekend.
- Credits roll on the left side of the screen while Gas Mask Tunsil video plays on the right side.
