I love that the drama is over and doesn't matter anymore.
We're #1 and nobody can take that away

Of course they lost to Georgia.
I just thought it funny they always push a narrative and firmly stand behind it.
Georgia had the disadvantage of playing LSU with our defense peaking.

There are possibly two teams that could take it away.

We had the disadvantage of playing LSU after a big game vs Auburn, UGa had a pattycake game the week before LSU. Also both of our rush DE's were banged up for LSU. I know UGa had players hurt as well. Media folks need something to talk about.
But I am not going to say we were 2nd best. We had our shot and didn't make it count, so case closed for me.

ESPN likes to share their thoughts and feelings. The results are straight forward for the top 5:
1. LSU (beat UGA, UF, AU, Bama)
2. Georgia (beat UF, AU)
3. Florida (beat AU)
4. Auburn (beat Bama)
5. Alabama
Tennessee and A&M only lost to the top 5, so they would be 6 and 7.

The same team that barely beat a awful Miami team and should have lost to a average Kentucky team?
Only team they beat was Auburn, but they got them at home. They would have lost at Auburn.

Sounds like something Kirby Smart would say.

Georgia > Florida > Auburn > Alabama > A&M > South Carolina > Georgia

Auburn had two SEC games before that one, while Florida had Towson and the 2018 version of UT. Still needed a freshman to miss wide open guys in the end zone to beat the most inept offense ever.

it's hard to argue that Alabama isn't the second strongest team in the league this year, even without Tua. The difference between Florida-Georgia-Auburn is not much to me, particularly now with Georgia's injuries.

And UGA lost to a terrible South Carolina team at home. Those were pre-Trask, UF has looked considerably better with him starting.
That said, UGA beat us and should be ahead.

Bama would beat Auburn 5-6 times out of 10.
With Tua, they win 7 or 8 out of ten.
If Nix develops, Auburn should make at least one, maybe two playoffs the next 3 years (assuming Nix plays 4).

Not one person on that committee, this board, or anywhere in the South believes Alabama is the #13 team. They could beat 2/3's the teams ahead of them. That said... frickem.
This worked in the committee's favor. They have long been accused of Bama bias. Rightfully so and in a way, it's the smart thing to do. Bama is a household name, everyone knows their coach, roster, and have a cult-like following.
Say Bama beats AU. Guess who LSU would be facing in Atl?
We saw the committee drop them not because of the SOS but because it allows them to downplay the narrative of their bias towards certain teams. Look me in the eyes and say Bama wouldn't beat Wisconsin, Baylor, OU, UGA, and Oregon by multiple touchdowns given a month to prepare and something to fight for.
