Would be nice if broadcast in SD for effect. Nothing like a classic JP Winsheild Wiper game.

JP sports was the best. Nobody has come close to broadcasting games. Why do all good things have to end?

Dave Dave and Dave. Listening to them because you were too hungover to make it to the 1130 game.

I'm ok with that. Tennessee never lost those JP games back in the day.

Corporate greed. Too much is never enough. Destroys originality and makes everything and everyone a carbon copy of everything else.

I know that it's notstalgia, but the Jefferson Pilot games weren't all that great. Low budget and always felt like the 4th or 5th most important SEC game that weekend. And plus Dave the color commentator had an undiagnosed stroke or brain damage and was really terrible.

That was all the appeal though. You know you weren’t getting an LSU-Florida clash of the titans. But you might get a surprisingly close Ole Miss-Vandy game or a WTF Mississippi State upset against a blue blood. Or something truly wild like the Bluegrass Miracle.

The other thing to consider is that the JP era was before every game was on TV. Heck, there were a lot of conference games that weren’t televised back then. So for fans of certain schools, it was literally one of the only times you could see your team play on TV. As a State fan in the 2000’s, I feel like 90% of our televised games were on JP Sports.

Couldn’t watch Ole Miss/Auburn, Ole Miss/Georgia or Ole Miss/Vandy unless it was on JP.

The pecking order for SEC games was CBS 2:30, ESPN 6:30, then 11:30 JP for a long time and that was it. It wasn’t until around 2000 that espn2 starting doing their 8:00 SEC games, which was chosen after the JP game was picked.

At one point State/Auburn being on JP Sports was a safer bet than the sun coming up in the morning.

I can only assume that 3-2 happened because it wasn’t on JP. A true crime against nature.

Shoot, do the old TBS intro. The original 11:30 game with Bob Neal, Tim Foley and Craig Sager (RIP) in the studio.

I think the last place teams in each division should play at Legion Field at 11AM the day of the SEC CG and have the game broadcast with Jefferson Pilot livery only in Standard Definition.
