He's in his 2nd year. Gene Chizik looked like a slam dunk after two years. Gus looked like one after one.
Would Kirby have taken the 2013 team to the NC game?

Stupid fricking post, but not unexpected.

Not really. Just enjoying another kneejerk reaction from Bama fans over another former assistant.

Remember last year when it took a win by Smart over a crippled AU to keep the critics off his back. Then he loses to GT two weeks later. Smart is like most coaches who are the "fruit of the month", they will have a few years of success followed by their true coaching abilities. Didn't want Smart or Gus because of that.

Remember when Saban lost to ULM his first year at Alabama...

Guess he's a fruit of the month kinda coach too. All these national titles he's got are just an aberration and he'll regress soon.

Meh, Kirbys demands were too strong and the risk of him eventually leaving for Georgia were always there. Not every candidate is a good fit for a given job. Seems this was the case here.

You do know that Saban was the "fruit of the month" at one time, right? as was Jimbo Fisher, Dabo Swinney and most other coaches that have won the National Championship the last few years.

Bama was a shell of a Program when Saban took over. Mark Richt left a strong program when he left.

I think this is a point that gets overlooked way too often. Sometimes great coaches will do poorly because of the fit. Personality, or whatever it is. when you get a good fit, magic.....but it doesn't happen that often, or every time.

Nah man Smart is just a fugazi. We all know that his upcoming back to back to back top 3 recruiting classes are just a part of the smoke show. Give it time and he'll become the Gus type of coach only going 8-4 every year following his premature ejaculation of a season.

Kirby was not ready 5 years ago. He has matured some, so we will see how well he does long term at UGA. Will he win an SEC championship this year? I doubt it

At this point in the Season, Gus has the opportunity to win the SEC, same as Kirby. Lets answer this question on Saturday, starting at 2:37

And by "strong" you mean he left a handful of undersized receivers, 2 good running backs, and an offensive line that wouldn't dominate a high school game?

The 2015 Georgia Bulldogs were the worst 10 win (post bowl game) team that I've seen in a while.

Not to mention Kirby was the one who came in and saved the class of 2016. Kept Eason in the fold as well as a handful of others. Everyone knows that Richt in the last few years total recruiting wise was pretty weak, despite our class rankings.
