Auburn star point guard Sharife Cooper won’t play Tuesday night against Florida after suffering an ankle injury, per Nathan King with Auburn Undercover. Cooper ranks second among all SEC players in points per game in league play, putting up 20.2 points per contest, and is first in assists at 8.1 per game.
A projected lottery pick and former five-star prospect, was ineligible for the first 11 games of the season. The Tigers have been significantly more competitive since he joined the lineup on Jan. 9, though they’ve been a few close losses away from a true breakout. Auburn is attempting to close what has been a challenging season strong.
ESPN reported shortly after the game’s start that Cooper suffered a left ankle sprain in practice Sunday, and that Auburn isn’t sure whether Cooper will play again this season.

Jamal Johnson replaced Cooper in the starting lineup, along with Allen Flanigan, Devan Cambridge, JT Thor and Jaylin Williams. Flanigan will presumably pick up the lion's share of the minutes at point guard, with Johnson spelling him.
