ESPN - End of a Dynasty

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. -- Watching No. 3 Alabama do its best imitation of Arkansas in the first half Saturday against No. 2 LSU, the thought occurred that nothing lasts forever.

Watching Crimson Tide quarterback Tua Tagovailoa give away the ball twice, watching punter Ty Perine go stonehanded on a snap at midfield, watching Trevon Diggs' interception negated because the little something extra that the Tide defense deployed was a 12th man, Alabama looked as if it had contracted a sudden case of Razorback flu.

You couldn't be sure which torch was being passed: the SEC West, the entire SEC, or all of the FBS, but that torch felt like one more thing that Alabama decided to give away in front of 101,821 fans at Bryant-Denny Stadium.

That win was a fluke, this was not.

As usual, this depends on how you define a Dynasty.

If you define it by the generally used terms, yes it is (and probably has been already). We are now one of a handful of very good programs year in and year out. We are no longer the lone superpower.

If you define it as "Bammer is about to go 8-4 or 9-3" then no, it's not.

Neither was Ohio State in 2014, or Clemson in 2016, or Auburn in 2017.

Not clicking on that link. These articles are written strictly as clickbait.

This showed up on my news timeline, probably premature but brought it here for dialogue.

Alabama turned the ball over that game the same way they did against LSU.

Ole Miss took a 20 point lead because of those mistakes, just like LSU did.

I'm not going to say they are done completely. Next year, who knows?

I am however saying they are done in 2019. 2020 ain't looking rosy either but that's too far to prognosticate on at this point.

next year will be rough. It will be a growing year with all of the offensive talent leaving and experience in the secondary. Although... maybe some change in the secondary won't be so bad.

I’ll take the bait. Back to back wins weren’t a fluke. What was Tua bobbling the ball? Ohhh LSU fans, nice to see you back in true form.

Yea it will never be that bad while Saban is there. But they are no longer just cherry picking whatever recruits they want and that has been such a huge part of their success... They've been immune to the drop off when experienced talent goes to the nfl. That's what killed LSU after 2012.

Hell, they beat us two years in a row...not a fluke, especially with the "recruiting" they had going on.

But as others have pointed out, every year Alabama seems to take an "L" at some point in the season and we hear this same crap yet every year Alabama is in the title hunt and wins a fair share of them too.

Are those of you buying into this interested in having an intellectually honest debate or are you just trying to run with a phony narrative to try to stir shite up?

I don't necessarily agree, but their fear factor has most definitely been diminished substantially.

They're no longer the team that will bust you in the mouth.
