What about the Egg Bowl leg raise? In each case the FG kicker got a chance to perform after the egregious penalty. Also in each case the penalty aftermath affected the outcome of the game.

The shoe throw matters.

No... a gifted opportunity, yes. Without the shoe toss LSU punts. With the shoe toss LSU gets a new set of downs. They could have still shite the bed... but they didn't, and gave York a great opportunity!!

The air was thick with moisture and the fog rolled in dense and dark covering the whole stadium. A fielded punt attempt by the receiving team(fla) would have been no sure thing.. Forget about the shoe toss penalty. Fla had a chance for it's kicker and he missed! If Merlin had of used his to's a little earlier, it's possible that the shoe would have, had no bearing on the outcome of the game.

Dude still had to nail that FG.

I couldn't see anything, but it appears by the camera angle on the kicker, he knew he hit it right away.

You are afraid of losing to a team that lost at home to a 5 loss team with a true freshman QB on his first start. If you lose Bama's season should be over.

York had to ask reporters post game if the kick was down the middle, the vision was so poor. But, to me what is not talked about enuff is Mullen calling a time out, giving LSU's special team time to get set up. LSU was out of time outs & were scrambling to get the kick team on the field & set up. Icing a kicker on a 57 yd attempt ?

Congrats to the kicker and LSU for a great win. I gave up on LSU once UF took the lead in the 3rd.

Dumb

Mullens timeout was absolutely the right play, the announcers were being idiots

We had 25 seconds, thats an eternity, there was no real rush. The timeout allowed mullens team to get in FG range with an opportunity to tie the game

If we missed the kick, the TO would have given them a chance to win

Yes this is forgotten about. Who knows if the kick would have been as true with the special teams running on in a rush. Still one hell of a kick either way.

Disagree. Kicking is highly mental. Kickers have routines, quirks, and have to get their mind right. The odds are much greater that a rushed kicker misses a 57 yard field goal in the fog, than UF getting another chance when he makes it.

There was even a high probability the rush could have created an offside penalty or a poor snap/hold.

Calling TO there was the wrong call. Glad he did it!

I am not responding to your following post. You stated your case, I disagreed and stated mine. Watching the clock tick, and running on the field to get lined up is stress for a kicker. Mullen made a mistake again.

He wouldnt have been rushed

York was standing on the field with 22 seconds left before he knew UF called the TO, there is nothing rushed about that

The gators did get the ball back and FAILED. I'm not positive but I would bet a dollar to a donut LSU led for most of the game.

York said in interview after the game he really couldn't see the goalposts.

So hard to remember all that happened in the game. Without the toss, LSU would have punted, right?

really is, so much happening in this thing.

I know this season is a shite sandwich for us but that game is becoming somewhat legendary already.

So much happened man

More important fact: that was one of the greatest kicks at a big moment with so much involved with that moment that I've ever seen. It should absolutely get more attention.

not sure how many other college kickers make that kick.

It was impossible and he nailed it.

Just unreal.

The timeout gave UF the opportunity at a very makeable FG to tie the game.

We had plenty of time to run out our FG unit. I think there was 25 seconds or so on the clock when he called the TO.

I get it, and he did have to kick it. But the shoe throw happened on a 3rd down stop. LSU would have had to punt the ball away or go for 4th and long had it not been for the shoe toss.

But the point is well taken. The kicker has ice in his veins and made a difficult kick that 95% of the kickers in the country would have easily missed.
