And he had enough leg to hit it from 65.

I keep bringing this up when people say what a "gifted win" that was. Dude still had to nail that FG. Amazing kick.

Kid is going to be an NFL kicker. Glad he's only a sophomore. I guess it makes sense that he was the #1 kicker coming out of high school. Been nails all season. Think he's like 6/7 on 50+ yard kicks this year.

So hard to remember all that happened in the game. Without the toss, LSU would have punted, right?

Sure and they might of fumbled the catch, couldn't they?

correct
Regardless, LSU still gained another ~20 yards to get into range to attempt that FG. Not to mention, we were down to under 50 players, our 3-4 string RBs, freshman receivers, backup freshman tight end, and a true freshman QB by the second half of that game. We had a running back taking half the snaps that came into the game with 1 carry on the season. For LSU to even be in that position was amazing regardless.

Hell of a kick! Congrats to that young man.

Interesting fact: balls carry further in fog and humid environments
More important fact: that was one of the greatest kicks at a big moment with so much involved with that moment that I've ever seen. It should absolutely get more attention.

Anything but a gifted win. LSU beat them with their third string freshmen. LSU just lined up and beat their asses when UF had everything to play for. Plain and simple.

Fog would cause a slippery field and ball. Additionally, as thick as the fog was and the distance needed to carry the ball over the uprights, amazing!

I watched every bit of that game those LSU kids fought their asses off. Grinded for everything, played with heart and toughness that is the LSU program we're accustomed to.

By far one of the most non-biased, football fan conversations I've read on this forum.

I mean it was gifted in that one of the dumbest penalties I've ever seen gave him the chance for that kick. He did great making the field goal. But it seems pretty clear that if UF got the ball back, they likely would have won that game and worst case scenario was overtime - up until the penalty of course.
LSU played great with all they have lose, but if you just look at a snapshot, UF had clear control of the end of the game for that extremely brief moment between the tackle and the shoe throw.
And I sort of expect teams to play well above their record in certain games, but who expects someone to chunk a shoe 20 yards downfield after just taking control and moment at the end of the game. It is baffling.

The gift was the pick 6, the fumble recovery turning into a field goal, and the pick inside Floridas red zone. Those hurt much worse than the penalty. Never should have been that close to be honest. Proud of LSU though, they had to apply the pressure to force those mistakes.

No... a gifted opportunity, yes. Without the shoe toss LSU punts. With the shoe toss LSU gets a new set of downs. They could have still shite the bed... but they didn't, and gave York a great opportunity!!
