Thread has been edited to add ANOTHER article concerning Finebaum and LSU.

LINK

1st story concerning LSU's worthiness for a prime TV spot:

quote:

The Alabama-LSU game has been televised in primetime every year since 2011.

That streak ended when CBS last week released the college football schedule for the upcoming fall, and SEC Network analyst Paul Finebaum said Monday he was not surprised by the move.

“Right now, and I hope LSU fans will turn the radio down, but the LSU-Alabama game at Bryant-Denny Stadium does not have the cachet it used to,” Finebaum told The RoundTable on Birmingham’s WJOX 94.5.

“We can spend a week promoting how great that game is going to be, and we get the same game every week.”

Alabama has won the past eight meetings and hasn’t lost to the Tigers since the 9-6 overtime game in 2011.

“This year may be different,” Finebaum said. “It’s a new year, and LSU is better, but the last couple of games have been virtually unwatchable.”

In the past five seasons, Nick Saban’s teams have outscored the Tigers 113-39, an average of 22-8.

Edit - 2nd Story . . . concerning Sankey and Finebaum's feeling on Wade:

LINK

quote:

Finebaum . . . was asked Tuesday if former SEC commissioner Mike Slive, who died in 2018 at 77, would have handled the Wade situation differently than current SEC commissioner Greg Sankey.

“It’s a great question, and it’s one I wish you hadn’t asked me,” Finebaum said. "I did ask a friend of Mike Slive the other day, ‘What would’ve happened if Mike Slive had still been the commissioner?’ This friend of Mike Slive said, ‘Will Wade would not be coaching in the SEC right now.' That’s a better opinion than I could come up with just giving you my impression of commissioner Slive.

Later in the article:

quote:

“To me, he shouldn’t have a job,” Finebaum said of Wade. "I don’t think he has any integrity. I don’t think he has any credibility as a head basketball coach. Quite frankly, I think it’s an embarrassment to the SEC that Will Wade is still coaching in this league. This is a league that wants to pride itself on being an up-and-comer and a power broker for intercollegiate athletics.

“I realize there is only so much a league can do, but I was embarrassed to be a fan of the SEC and be someone associated with that league to see him stand up there, smirk and act like he didn’t do anything wrong other than being too brash. That’s a complete joke. It’s a disgrace to see this play out.”

LSU was 1-7 in that slot. He’s right.

He's right.

LSU is not up to standard.

That’s cool. This is working out great for LSU.

Until it becomes a competitive game it does not need 2 weeks of hype and a prime time slot. Maybe this year will shake the trend but I’ve got no problem with the move. Finebaum is right, and I rarely say that.

Corn dog county is no longer a blue blood.

Its quite ironic...they say we are only good because of Saban but in reality they were only ever elite because of Nick Saban. Before Nick came to LSU they were the same old trash they've always been. Les rode his success to another title but eventually they ran out of steam and came back down to earth.

They need to kiss the ground Saban walks on...without him they would have never reached the heights that they did.

This is meant as a troll thread but LSU fans agree with this. It hasn't really even been competitive lately. CBS should stop wasting their time and resources until LSU proves otherwise.

Yes and no. He's right about the game. Wrong in thinking LSU fans listen to him which would require us to turn down the radio.

Makes sense. Lsu hasn't beaten Bama since A&M joined the conference.

You are a doll if you truly believe that. LSU has always had the potential to be great. All Saban did was just keep a fence up around Louisiana and didn’t let in state talent get away. When this happens LSU will compete for NC’s

So we get stuck with Notre Dame primetime on an SEC network? LSU needed to be bounced, but not for that game.

There's so much wrong with your post, it must be a joke, right?
quote:

Corn dog county is no longer a blue blood.

Find me one Alabama fan that ever considered LSU a blue-blood in football.
quote:

they say we are only good because of Saban

Literally no one says that.
quote:

Before Nick came to LSU they were the same old trash they've always been. Les rode his success to another title but eventually they ran out of steam and came back down to earth.

In 1990 LSU was ranked 13th nationally in all-time win% with winning records vs all SEC teams except Alabama and Tennessee. When Saban came to LSU in 2000, the Tigers were at 17th nationally. When Saban left, they were at 16th, now they're back at 13th.

They need to kiss the ground Saban walks on...without him they would have never reached the heights that they did.

Pretty much right back where they were when I graduated from LSU, 13th nationally.

Maybe the game would be more competitive if both teams weren't given a bye week prior to the game.

I agree with you. If we are not that big of a competition maybe Saban should pick another time to take a week off

Things may have been different this past year had Devin White not broken the rules in the preceding game.

LSU has not done a good job in making that game competitive and exciting. It needed to be bounced

Re turning off the radio, the local ESPN radio affiliate broke off the contract half way thru the SECN's initial season. No one was buying commercial spots as PF's pimping for bama was too strong even back then. He's always on the bama sidelines in TS and never leaves his comfort zone as he once wandered too close to the endzone and had to have local police walk him back to the bama bench area.
