Ed Orgeron says most of #LSU's players have caught COVID-19, and he hopes they won't get it again.

Asked for specifics, Orgeron says he's not sure the percentage of team that has caught it, but says his point was most who did have recovered and believed to be fit to play this season and at low risk of catching it again.

That "most have recovered" part invites a few questions.

hopefully. But with contact tracing, not sure how it will work if you have already had it and are immune. Anyone know?

Yeah, like no risk at all.

I thought I had read that those that tested positive would not be required to test again for 90 days

Shouldn't matter.

"NCAA guidelines regarding COVID-19 say that players who test positive must sit for 10 days and have three days without symptoms before returning to action. Players who have been determined to have "high-risk" contact with players who test positive are required to sit for 14 days. "High-risk" contact is defined as being within 6 feet of somebody who tests positive for 15 or more minutes without a face covering."

The only protection for all of us is still a decent protocol.

Wait so those that are immune due to already having the virus still have to sit due to contact tracing?

WTF can of shite is that. dumb as hell.

The NCAA has made "contact tracing" more punitive than an actual person who tested positive. Given that some who have already contacted the virus have gotten ill again, it's hard to see how the NCAA is going to make anyone the exception to the rule.

How does someone test positive for 15+ minutes?
Why does it matter if they have a face covering while testing?

Are you within 6 feet of someone who tested positive for at least 15 minutes without a face covering? Then you sit.

The NFL players are all practicing and playing with a computer chip that lets them know if they are breaking similiar protocol. It also lets the league know.

Don't think that's the rule. Think the rule is if contact tracing shows you were exposed, you have to quarantine for 14 days even if you've tested negative, which is ridiculous. Read somewhere a Tennessee player has never tested positive but has sat out something like 40 days because of this bullshite protocol.

Even the CDC is saying if you're not sick, testing is unnecessary. These protocols have to change or we're gonna have trouble getting through a season with the overly extreme measures in place currently.

There have been no verifiable reported cases of people getting COVID twice, so until we have evidence to support that, it's dumb to assume someone who's had it has exposure going forward.

Haven’t most of LSU’s players opted out though?

Just the ones that have already gotten Covid. The ones that probably have it now are just gonna play and give it to every other team.
