That Jelks admitted he lied about. Congradulations!
Alright dumbass, you obviously can't read. The signed affadavit said he DID NOT LIE. The one I quoted anyway. He may have signed more with you retard gumps threatening his family and forcing him to flee the state.
Anyways, I have to get to work. Don't you need to be standing in line for your weekly unemployment or something?

He admitted to lying after signing the afadavit.

The story also reports Jelks family was being harrassed and he did not feel he or his family was safe in the state of Alabama before his "admission".
Right. If you read about his admission you would know that's not what he said at all. He came clean after speking with his dying father, who urged him to do so. But thanks for playing.

Hell, you dipshit gumps may have threatened to kill his mom if he did not "admit" he lied.
Didn't you guys kill the booster right before his court case over the Albert Means fiasco?
Oh yeah, how much did you clowns pay him and his handlers? Wasn't it in the hundreds of thousands?
Then didn't you retards appeal and say "We are innocent!!!".
Bama integrity runs deep kiddo...
If half of this is true. Wow.

He admitted only a few years ago, that he lied ABOUT EVERYTHING! He came clean after talking with his dying father! Genius.

No, I'm in law school, but have fun being a retard!

It isn't. Jelks came clean about lying after talking with his dying fther and Logan Young fell his drunk arse down a fight of stairs.

Chuckle...

MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- A University of Alabama football booster died when he hit his head in an accidental fall at home, rather than being slain as first thought, police said Thursday.
Memories of his close friendship with Bear Bryant adorn Logan Young's Memphis home, where he was found dead on Tuesday.
Police initially described the death of 65-year-old Logan Young as a bloody slaying after a fierce struggle but quit calling it a homicide a day later.
quote:
Predictably this whole thing gets fishier and fishier...Logan Young, the Alabama booster found dead in his "blood-soaked" home, may have been the victim of "an accident," according to Memphis police who are backing off labeling Young's death a homicide despite allegedly identifying the body with dental records due to the damage to Young's body.

What sort of an accident could leave a man dead and his house covered with blood? Besides running downstairs while juggling chainsaws drunk? Anonymous reader #1 speculates:
i think he startled his pet ninja, which was asleep in the liquor cabinet, and the ninja totally flipped out on him and cut his head off. technically if your pet kills you because you startled it, that qualifies as an accident.
Kinda funny. Dude's corpse was so mangled they had to identify it with dental records. Police call it a BRUTAL homicide, yet decide he just slipped and fell and spewed blood all over the house. He apparently mangled himself so badly (slipping and falling) he was hard to identify.
In related news, Young was set to testify against the University of Alabama in a couple of weeks.

As for Jelks, who was forced to flee the state of Alabama...
So, Jelks "admits" something to try to help Bamah after his family is threatened, then leaves the state.
If you need evidence of the hundred thousand ++ paid to Means and his handlers to sign with Bama, that will not be hard to find either...
quote:
As he did with Erben, Jelks again said his family was a major consideration for providing new information.
<!--[if !supportEmptyParas]-->
"My mother (has) got to live here in this state," Jelks said in the transcript. "She's a sweet lady. . . . My family had nothing to do with this. So I'm asking that nobody harass my mother, brothers, sisters . . . they are good, Christian people. I'm the one - it was my choice (to come forward)."

Auburn's the only program in the state that had coaches paying players. They also lead in more post season bans, more yrs on probation, more yrs of tv bans and more infractions. At least you're number one in something.

Hey, I know AU has paid players. Never denied it. I just get annoyed when a bama fan slams AU for it, then wants to play innocent.

I know its not as fun for you, and you wouldn't get to fuel your seething anger...but you should step back and think about the things actually written about the Young death, before you rush in with an interpretation.
You trumpet the newspaper story saying "allegedly identifying the body with dental records"....I ask, alleged by who? When? Is there a police report that states that? A police spokesperson? Where is this coming from? A reporter? Who is his source?
I think there is a lot of speculation and rumor mongering flying around about a death that was fairly high profile. People rush in with their judgments, tell people about it, that gets repeated, and the false judgment becomes the "official record"...do we not see that on this board on a non-stop basis?
Remember 9/11? There were news reports of dozens of planes hijacked, men taken off trains armed with box cutters and airline uniforms, F-15s shooting jets out of the sky...all false, yet reported by the major networks all the same because people were rushing to judgment and repeating rumors.
I know you especially won't care...but it pains me to see someone who I KNOW went to college make very rudimentary lapses of logical thinking, and yet argue so passionately for things you do not know.
I read a study recently that said a person who holds a set of beliefs will not change those beliefs, even when presented with evidence that they are false. In fact, they actually believe MORE STRONGLY that their belief is correct, despite evidence to the contrary..often assuming a conspiracy to cover up "the facts"...
I see it A LOT on the poli board, and you have provided some interesting examples of it on this board over the years...

I actually agree with everything you said. Good points and you are right, I do not know enough to really have a firm opinion of what happened with Young. What I threw out was speculation.
Honestly not worth the rehashing. I am getting behind on getting stuff done today with too much time here, so gotta show some restraint and move along...

I figured I'd get blasted for going off on such a tangent...glad to see it wasn't negatively received.

You are one pathetic dude. Coroner? Oh yeah he said it was accidental. The police? Oh yeah, they said it was accidental. I mean, how big a nut job are you? You think the goverment covers up alien landings and had Kennedy killed to? Or do you have to sit around and think of ways to demonize a college team you don't like b/c yours doesn't do as well as you want it to. Jesus, how pathetic! You point to one instance where a guy lied, and then you point to another instance and say the police are involved in a massive corrupt, even though the city is outside the damn state that the university is in! God, how fricking dumb can you be?! BTW here's the link to news article once CSI had actually looked at the scene.

Oh right, his fmily was being harassed like the men in black killed Logan. Is Elvis involved in any way? Perhaps we threatened to turn sasquatch on him as well? Or did he get used (and paid) by a sleazy Auburn lawyer who was pissed Auburn got busted, after he threw a hissy fit that his coach wouldn't play him at running back anymore? Seriously dude, get a life.

I never denied that (though you should know that Stallings blackballed Young). Your the one using the testimony of a guy who admitted he lied, not me.

Hate to risk getting caught in the overspray of this little pissing contest, but I have to ask:
Since you seem satisfied that Jelks had demonstrated that he was completely unreliable and a proven liar in this case, why do you persist in believing his version of the story that exonerates Bama?
BTW, I've seen a version of the article where Jelks 'recants', in which he admits that he recieved cash from Bama coaches prior to his signing. Was he telling the truth when he said he was lying about Pullen, but lying when he said he told the truth about getting a signing bonus?

I'm not the one using his story to draw a conclusion from.

Again, I'm not using Jelks to prove something, I'm simply calling out ol miami for using a guy who later changed his story.

The evidence is pretty conclusive that Jelks was illegally compensated for signing with, and later playing for, the University of Alabama, regardless of what he said to the Birmingham News after the fact.
It was also 25+ years ago, so it's not really that big of a deal now.
The most interesting statement in this entire thread is the one that no one else seems to have commented on, and is stunning if true:
quote:Considering that Dye coached on the undefeated '65 and '66 squads, as well as the beginning of the Wishbone juggernaut from '71-'73, and coached against the '92 MNC team in his final game at AU, that's a pretty serious endorsement of the 2010 Crimson Tide.
BTW, Dye said that this could be the best Bama team that he has ever seen.
