The university president didnt help much either. In their defense Stallings didnt help his case by throwing the NCAA out of his office.

There is no defense for either Bockrath or Soreensen. Both were grade a morons. And the ncaa called stallings some names. That was the Texas in him, not the "I'm the most powerful man in Alabama"

Or by letting Antnio Langham play after he knew he had been in contact with an agent.

Contact with an agent is not a penalty. He had no way of knowing that the agent gave him a couple hundred bucks to blow in NO. He was guitly of believing his player over a sleazy agent.

Just listened to it. Good for Finebaum. He talks nice to his guests when they are on but takes shots at them when they aren't. Glad they made him feel uncomfortable. Brando should have long ago told him to kiss his arse.

Stallings left for two reasons. First, as with any coach at Alabama boosters are a constant irritant that must be dealt with. Secondly, as his wife so eloquently put it, "it was time to come home to Texas."

And I believe every word of that. Gene Stallings is a man who put NOTHING above his love for his family. He was and is the real thing. Although I'm an LSU fan, I always admired his character and the way he lived his life.
I agree that there has never been a finer individual to coach in the SEC.

It sounded like he got really defensive when Stallings told him he didn't have sources as to him leaving Alabama. He never disputed that again, and if anything sounded like a bully who got caught in a lie in trying to deflect away from it at that point.

Thats what it sounded like to me. (Or else he had sources and its finally dawning on him that perhaps they weren't as trustworthy as he thought).

Agreed. I don't think he really wants to get into a "character" war with either of them....LOL

I think he was expecting them to go off on Leach for what was said and didn't expect them to call him out for allowing Leach to make an accusation that wasn't true. Stallings was pretty forthright in saying that he was hurt by Paul not setting the record straight. I think Paul pretty much set up both Stallings and Dye in an attempt for more ratings nationally, at the expense of what Stallings and Dye believed to be a friendship. Their relationships are far different from what they were as a journalist/coach in the past. Finebaum screwed the pooch on this one big time.

Exactly. Stallings has always been very gracious, thanking finebaum for having him on and saying wht a good time he he had. He didn't say shite when that segment was over. Finebaum made a terrible blunder and got made to look like a fool.

Yep.... I loved in part 1 where Stallings cut him off saying "WHOA WHOA WHOA!!!!"

I don't care who you are- that guy has a voice you listen to!

I cringe when I think of a player getting a stupid penalty and having to face stallings.

Thats not the least bit true. Alabama FANS picked Dubose to be the next coach...with a letter/phone call/fax campaign that would be the envy of a political action committee. The AD and President caved to the public sentiment.

So what's the rational bama fan's view on Finebaum?

Love hate. Love him when he's calling the AU coach Chisnick and hate him when he's talking about Shula.

Finebaum is the Jerry Springer of the South.

Same here. It's a website scuffle with WJOX and their webpage provider. I prefer his PodCast because it eliminates all commercials and not to flame but the gump callers talk so frickin slow I have to listen to podcasts at double speed. It condenses 4 hours of his show into about an hour.
