Bama is a great, granted. Great coach, great program, history, etc. Not discounting that, but... it must kinda suck to expect to win every single time. Where is the excitement and euphoria of upsetting a team? If you are #17 and number #3 comes to town, it’s a huge opportunity. If you win, you storm the field. People talk about it for months. It’s unexpected. If you are always #1 or #2, where is the excitement? You expect to beat everyone. If you do, so what? If you are challenged and don’t win convincingly, you are disappointed. If you lose it’s a huge gut punch. No feeling that you are making progress, reloading. No moral victories. You have nowhere to go but down. Georgia is pumped to be #3. LSU beat a sorta crappy Ole Miss team and feels great. Locked in at the top, there are no peaks and valleys and none of the highs that go with that. Again, any team would trade, but on some level always expecting to win, convincingly, seems like a buzzkill.

Edited to match responses:

Bama never, ever loses. Being a winner sucks and you shouldn’t want to win. It is 100% bad and not winning much is way better. This post is not alluding to emotion and sports in general. It is specifically about Alabama, a team which has never been challenged, ever. Because of this, it would be terrible to be in their situation. Because winning is bad. These are absolutes.

Agreed their fans must be so depressed to keep winning all their games. I'm glad I don't know what that's like. Why would any fan wish that much success on their team?

Alabama has lost 19 games in the last 10 years.
It sucks not winning every game.

Expectations are for dreamers. Reality is a better place to dwell.

What a lot of people forget is that every team Bama plays gives them their best shot. Staying on top is probably harder than getting there.

Stadiums are louder when Bama comes to town. Opposing coaches probably put in a little more time and effort the week leading up to the Bama game. Everyone wants a piece of Bama until they get it.

It's impressive.

That makes it pretty fun for us fans.

It was pretty cool the last time Bama was an underdog. They beat the dog shite out of UGA in Athens.

I prefer BAMA being at the top though. It’s easier to climb to the top, it’s more of a challenge to stay at the top.

We've replaced it with the excitement and euphoria of upsetting rival fans.

The downside is the karma . The football Gods will punish them for 20/30 years after this . The losses , the parade of coaches. And all that insufferable redneckery will be repaid in full.

Downside is you can't sustain it forever. Look at ND, and USC.

Why do people think being the best program in the country and winning most of the time gets old? It’s the goal of everyone to get to this level and you think it’s not exciting or fun?

Do some of you carry that same mentality to work?
