I think this is clearly due to respect on the name, and a good win over Ole Miss. However, after that defensive performance against an average offense, I’m not sure we deserve it.

Honestly not sure why they are ranked above Penn State, Ohio State, Michigan, or Michigan State.

Probably should just be outside the top 10

Is this supposed to be some kind of antidote for the last year of rat poison?

Not so fast.

They are going to sit at #5 until the SECCG, unless 2,3, or 4 lose in the meantime.

Win the SECCG, you are in, and whoever was sitting at #4 will cry.

That's all that matters.

Why not? Far better wins than Ohio State and arguably a better loss. Oregon has a pretty bad loss and almost took the L to Fresno at home. Penn State has an argument with a great loss but Bama has better wins

I guess Michigan and Michigan State are undefeated but they haven’t played anybody

Saban knows the path to the playoffs. No reason to play in the SECCG for the Tide.

This is where the Bama Bump is real. And it was/ is earned over a long period of time. The Big10 teams have an argument and if they are correct, the rankings will correct. But Bama has looked consistently better based on the "eye test" (what Iowa is doing is not sexy, but is effective).

This will self-correct for sure. Bama either makes the CFP or ends up in the 7-10 range....they won't end at #5.

Kind of a dumb point. There is no scenario where Bama wins out and doesn’t play in the SECCG

But I welcome whatever chaos leads to 11-2 SEC Runner Up Alabama backing into the playoffs

Who do you rank above them? None of those B1G teams have any real wins

Where they are ranked now isnt important imo. They gave up 34 pts to the 83rd best O in CFB with a 2nd tam QB, 2 TRF OL and a RSF OL.

Easily one of the most embarrassing loses of the CNS era

2 turnovers to 1 against A&M, and the first one led to an Aggie TD on the following drive on a short field. The second one was an interception on 3rd and Goal when Bama should have been running it. Throw in the KO return for a TD, and it just wasn't Bama's night. Still only lost on a last second FG. Outgained A&M 522 to 379, and some costly penalties, with a two TD deficit at the half seemed too much to overcome. I still think they're better than half the top 10, and no one 6-10 would probably be favored right now. Either Penn State or Iowa was going to be ranked 2nd after their game. Honestly, I'd rank Bama ahead of Oklahoma. They've looked bad in several games this year, but 6-0 is better than 5-1.

Thank you for explaining why it wasn’t a dumb point.

We do not. Football is blocking and tackling. We don't do either at an elite level.

Not sure it matters. If Bama wins out they're in. OSU, Michigan, MSU, and PSU all have to play each other.

Judging by the totality of your post, you're either not an Alabama fan or you're one of the sort of pathetic sycophants that sucks up to any group you think may accept you.

I think the first, but if it's the 2nd, then you should be aware that can't be everybody's friend

IDK. Maybe. I think Bama beats every other team except UGA. Then again I would have said the same thing last week.
