I think you're forgetting LSU's great moral victory over Alabama, 306-299. That was like a second loss for Bama. The box score doesn't lie.

Would they deserve to be in? Yes.
Would they get in? LSU? Probably, but maybe not.
Other SEC teams probably wouldn't.
LSU is a brand name team whether they like it or not. Not as big a brand as Alabama or Ohio State, but they aren't Check Cola either.
