Do we have a Lincoln Riley situation?

I remember this time last year LSU was convinced they had Lincoln Riley and Oklahoma was scared they were about to lose him. But USC came out of nowhere and got him instead.
Now Auburn is convinced that they have Kiffin and Ole Miss is scared to lose him. But will another school come out of nowhere again?
Could be spicy!

What school? There’s no USC waiting in the wings.

"Damn Man! Did you have to burn down everything on your way out?"
"My bad"

Apparently UAB needs a new coach.

That handshake looks like a dead fish, and the look on Kiffin's face is priceless

I can't see tamu hanging with Jimbo much longer, despite the buyout.
Just tossed their volley ball coach today. Freaking volley ball. Because, they weren't competing at the level needed...
AHEM!

Unlike Lincoln, at least Freshwater isn’t scared of the SEC.

In that photo Fisher is pointing his left hand to Kiffin as he is shaking his hand. Maybe he is probably trying to say this is the guy that Texas A&M should replace me as the HC of Texas A&M. Plus, Kiffin former DC is now at Texas A&M.

But Riley wanted to go to a conference where he could air it out and not have to play anyone good. And the expectations at LSU are a world apart from the expectations at USC, where they've got a bunch of pro teams and you don't have to dominate the market.
It's an interesting comparison, because in that case -- LSU was the better job, but he turned it down. You have to figure that conference schedule was a major factor, but I don't think he wanted any piece of the LSU fanbase up his arse.
He was scared. Scared of the competition, but more so scared of the expectations. If USC loses to LSU or Bama or UGA -- that's okay. If he loses to those schools at LSU, there isn't going to be any leeway.
With Kiffin at Ole Miss, you have to figure there's more leeway. There won't be any at Auburn. He can win 8-9-10 games a year, and he'll have complete job security at Ole Miss.
Unless he's competing for a title at Auburn, they aren't going to be happy. Riley didn't want that.

Family comes first! Southern California is miles better than Baton Rouge. Did you see that he had been recruiting California HS players while at OU. He didn't recruit any HS players from Louisiana.

Not saying that Baton Rouge is some sort of Paradise but if you been to SoCal lately you would know this is BS! The drug paraphernalia in the streets alone is bad enough but the city smells of urine lmao

That’s a pretty broad brush there

Riley lives in Malibu, which doesn’t stink of piss and corndogs.

Lincoln Riley watching Pac 12 defenses…
USC only punted once vs UCLA, their QB has had enough time to knit a sweater in the pocket this year. They are putting up Bo Jackson Tecmo Bowl numbers this year. Yet they did lose to Utah, which has a defense that is about like Arkansas.

I get the idea, I'm not trying to make us (AU people) sound totally grounded
But this just really isn't true. If Lane wins 9 or so games at Auburn and 10 or so games each of the next two years, Auburn people are going to be pretty damn happy with him.
In the past 10 years AU has one 9 games (once), 10 games (once) and 12 games (once). Everything else is 8 or less.

He didn’t turn it down, he had not been offered the job.
During an interview with SEC Nation, Scott Woodward stated that he was surprised like everyone else when it was reported that Riley was coming to LSU.
He said they were not negotiating with him. He did admit to having gaged Riley’s interest but stated that was the extent of it.
This was purely Sexton doing his thing to create a diversion. The diversion benefited LSU as well so Woodward remained silent.

Now you look back and LSU had Brian Kelly the entire time and Lincoln Riley was just a smoke screen.
