Being played at WCWS after UT win

Even Oklahoma City knows Dixi Land Delight is a Tennessee song. Vols get the win, then Dixi Land Delight plays afterwards. Buck Fama!!!

Honestly I associate Dixie Land Delight with Deep South. Not necessarily a single state.

Well it does clearly say Tennessee in it multiple times. I don’t recall any other state being called out in this song. But I may had missed it.

You are 100% correct. It definitely says Tennessee. I just feel it fits a few Deep South states well.

The song is long associated with the university of Alabama. I know that and I’m from texas and literally have no connection to the state or university.

Dixi Land Delight is a Tennessee song

The band Alabama formed in Fort Payne, which is in the Tennessee (River) Valley at the base of Lookout Mountain, southwest of Chattanooga.

Other than that geographical reference growing up, the song lyrics reference the state because it was co-written by a gentleman in Nashville (Ronnie Rogers), which came to him while driving down a rural highway in Tennessee.

Alabama also sang "If You're Gonna Play in Texas (You Gotta Have a Fiddle in the Band)," which references Texas and Louisiana.

"Dixieland Delight" presumably became popular at games mainly because of the added student lyrics. The title also references Dixieland.

We similarly sing "Sweet Home Alabama."

"Sweet Caroline" is also a popular sing-along, despite Alabama having no correlation with John F. Kennedy's daughter.

TL;DR — They're just songs.

It should be Tennessee's song but Alabama kind of laid claim to it a long time ago.

Yeah, the rest you have a argument but not with this one. Literally half the schools in the country play this.

LSU likes to claim "Hey Baby" but other play this also.

Callin Baton Rouge and Louisiana Saturday night are ours.

Ohio State plays Hang on Sloopy and everyone laughs at them.

Next thing you know, they will say Alabama was singing about Tennessee when they wrote "Christmas in Dixie"

But why though? The man that wrote this song is from Tennessee. It does not mention anything about the state of Alabama in the entire song. Alabama wanted it to be about them, but in fact it’s about Tennessee. Only claim the state of Alabama has that it was sang by the band Alabama. Other than that, it has Tennessee written all over it.

That’s the only claim they have. The Band Alabama sang it, after Ronnie Rogers wrote it. Take a guess where Ronnie Rogers is from and how he thought of it?

We took it back last year as it was played as Bama was exiting the field in Knoxville.

Dixieland Delight" is a 1983 song written by Ronnie Rogers, and recorded by American country music band Alabama.

Randall "Ronnie" Rogers (born in Nashville, Tennessee) is an American country music singer and songwriter.

Alabama recorded the song. A Tennessee man actually wrote it dip shite.
