Discussion: What do we really know about Auburn’s 2019 offense

Word around the SEC has been pretty quiet on Auburn till the last month or so where I keep seeing Auburn listed as probably the 2nd or 3rd best team in the SEC. Now everything I’ve heard is their defense along will be enough to beat most teams but that remains to be seen.
We know they’ll probably have an elite defense. But it seems like people are making a lot of assumptions on the offensive side.
Do we know who is going to win the quarterback job?
I honestly should know but I’m blanking. People seem pretty confident in the run game. What’s the story there?
Gus is taking back playcalling. Will that matter?

Good OL and receivers. Not a clue about QB or RB

That's they won't be as good as last year.

I think auburn could win the west, but depends on qb play.

Word is QB should be named in the next 48 hours. Sounding like Bo Nix will be the guy.

Where have you seen 2nd or 3rd in the conference? I've seen maybe 2nd and likely 3rd in the West division. Tony Barnhart said 3rd in the West at an SEC fundraiser yesterday.
ETA: As for Gus calling the plays, Aubies have been arguing over that point for 4-5 seasons now, so who knows really. Some claimed he let Lashlee call them, then took it away and did the same thing to Lindsey.

Auburn has a lot of speed, deep RB bench and the OL progressed a ton late last year. I expect the offense to be better than last year but not elite because of QB play.
If Nix is QB there will be more read option, motion and all about speed. Nix has a quicker release so more intermediate passing than usual.
Gatewood will be power read, guards will pull on toss sweeps and the offense would be more controlled run game to set up deep shots like usual. Gatewood would avg more yards per completion because the underneath screens and quick hitches aren’t in his wheelhouse. Slower release, longer throwing motion than Nix but a stronger arm. The playcalling would be similar to 2010, because Cam is the last QB to run power read, obviously the passing game wouldn’t be as open.

Auburn has the talent on offense.
Never know about QBs until they’re live in game.
What kind of playcalling will we get? Who knows.

what we know about their offense is that Gus will run it and call the plays. If it crashes, he burns.

What do we know about Auburn’s offense you ask? We can all assume but nobody knows shite while Gus is in charge. I’m just here for the highs, lows, and quality melts.

Athlon is not as high on their OL as most. Although ranked #10, that is behind #1-UGA, #2-Bama, and #9-Missouri. Missouri?
10. Auburn
The good news: Auburn returns all five starters from last year’s line. The bad news: This unit doesn’t have a ton of proven depth and needs to play with more consistency than it did last season. With the starting unit returning intact, the expectation is this group will take a step forward in 2019. Left tackle Prince Tega Wanogho and guard Marquel Harrell should push for All-SEC honors this fall, with Kaleb Kim (center), Mike Horton (right guard) and Jack Driscoll (right tackle) rounding out the starting lineup.

The key is if AUs problems on Offense the last two years were because of Lindsey or Gus. If Gus’s playcalling returns to 14’ form, they will be very good.

As others have said...
Deep at RB
An h-back(TE/FB hybrid) transfer from AZ state who has looked really good blocking and catching out of the backfield
Little quality depth at OL and WR
Likely a True Freshman starting QB
It would make sense for us to use a run heavy game plan relying on our stable of RBs and let Nix have 15-20 throws max. This would chew up clock and let our defense do it’s thing while taking some pressure off Nix.
BUT, we are talking about Gus Malzahn so he will probably out think himself and come out with some air raid shite. Who really knows.

As an Auburn fan, you can only count on one thing: inconsistency. It's our calling card.
But at least we're never boring

Its a mystery. There is talk about the OL being good because they return a bunch of guys, but those guys didn't seem all that good to begin with - especially at tackle.
Everyone is assuming that QB play will be as good or better despite replacing arguably their best passer since Cam. He had his moments last year when he seemed to be playing not to get hurt, but he was still by far a very good passer. QB play is basically the difference between 10-2 and 6-6 for Auburn. Its the big unknown at this point.
Auburn's WR's are just ok and their passing scheme is weak.
I expect Auburn to rely on running the ball, but I don't expect a return to the prolific offenses that Cam and Nick Marshall were able to put together. They will put up points against lesser D's, but will really struggle against LSU, UGA, MSU, Alabama and A&M.
I see 7-5, 8-4.

You mean where our best player is? Probably a 1st/2nd round draft pick. You tried, but failed to look like you know what you’re talking about
