Difference between Jimbo & Sumlin

The only differences I can think of are...
-Sumlin had a better record at this stage of his A&M tenure. (Had the same record in his last five seasons as Jimbo has in his first five to this point)
-Jimbo makes almost double the money
-Jimbo won a NC...9 years ago somewhere else.
I'm sure there are other differences but I just can't put my finger on it. What am I missing?

I’m no Jimbo fan, but how many programs were coming after Sumlin? LSU wanted Jimbo badly, and A$M put up the cash to keep him. They overpaid and Sexton played their AD with a crazy buyout.

jimbo was smart enough to recognize that he had an athletic department that was the equivalent of a little old lady letting microsoft tech support into her computer via rdp. he got all the gift cards he wanted. sumlin didnt realize just how much he could get.

I don't care enough to get an actual answer, but that article doesn't scream racism (unless you count the writer trying hard to spin it that way).
Granted, don't know the whole story and maybe Mccombs made racial issues obvious elsewhere... but looks to me like he just didn't think Strong was ready (which sorta proved to be true). Either way, the article makes a claim, but provides zero to support it.
Not every criticism is rooted in race.

Or that he would hide in the closet and watch. I mean, there are a lot of allegations out there that he did, but it isn't established or anything.
I prefer to give him the benefit of the doubt on that one.
