Matthew McConaughey’s dad, Jim, played football for Bear Bryant at Kentucky? He finished his playing career at Houston & went on to be drafted by the Green Bay Packers.
Just re-reading McConaughey’s book, Greenlights and thought at least 3 of you would enjoy that tidbit.

I listened to that audiobook (with him as the narrator). Pretty good.

I read with his voice in my head.
The cadence of his writing is exactly the way he speaks. Pretty cool.

Greenlights originated from diaries and journals McConaughey began writing when he was fourteen years old.[6] McConaughey described the book as a collection of "stories, prayers, poems, people and places and a whole bunch of bumper stickers."[7] The book includes stories and insights from McConaughey's life in chronological order. It has been described as a memoir but McConaughey has called it an "approach book

It’s gonna need to be an Audiobook for a lotta folks around here.
As for McConaughey’s daddy. Sounds like a bad arse! I wonder if he traveled a lot for work…..or looked at all like his son?

I've heard this from several people. I have the paperback, but I may just get the audio book and listen during an upcoming ultramarathon.

Yeah, pretty much. It’s basically a personal philosophy book that he uses 30+ years of stories about his life to illustrate. Exceptionally well written, IMO.

This is a playbook, based on adventures in my life. Adventures that have been significant, enlightening, and funny, sometimes because they were meant to be but mostly because they didn’t try to be. I’m an optimist by nature, and humor has been one of my great teachers. It has helped me deal with pain, loss, and lack of trust. I’m not perfect; no, I step in shite all the time and recognize it when I do. I’ve just learned how to scrape it off my boots and carry on.
We all step in shite from time to time. We hit roadblocks, we frick up, we get fricked, we get sick, we don’t get what we want, we cross thousands of “could have done better”s and “wish that wouldn’t have happened”s in life. Stepping in shite is inevitable, so let’s either see it as good luck or figure out how to do it less often.
