He was outplayed by Fromm and Hurts. Hard to win the Heisman when you were the third best QB in your last game.

The first drive of the game did it to him.. suffered high ankle sprain and couldn't plant his throws or move.. It happens. Still had a hell of a season.. and Yes, Fromm was throwing darts

Tua is a great QB and will be the favorite going into the 2019 season.

I wouldn't bet against him.

Without question. All he needed was a mediocre showing versus UGA and the Heisman was his. Alas it was not meant to be.

Yeah personally I don’t get all the angst about Tua not winning the Heisman. He had his chance to win it in the SECCG and laid an egg, albeit due to an injury which is unfortunate. He’ll use it as motivation and be back in a big way.

And I can’t fail to mention that Murray is a fine player who is deserving of the trophy as well.

Fact is, the majority of Bama fans knew Tua would most likely not win the Heisman after that game. I think Tua knew that, too. Also, when that Russian presenter mispronounced his name.

No question, imo. And, yeah, Fromm looked great for most of the game. But, strictly from a fans viewpoint, the Hurts redemption angle was at least as satisfying as a Heisman.

Generally speaking he had won it on the field and he lost it on the field so yes the UGA game was the capper however he was trending down before that. Rival players were making a conscious effort to damage his leg and he played four tough defenses in LSU, MSU, AU and UGA. Nobody faced four physical, motivated defenses like that in a cluster.

Fromm faced UF (27), UK (22), AU(45) and Bama(10) in four out of six weeks.

There's no probably about it.

He could have survived a bad game any other time during the year, but not the final game when the voters were all paying extra close attention and both Murray and Tua were playing back to back high profile games and lots of voters were actively trying to make up their minds.

Heisman voters weigh the final games much more heavily than the first 3/4th of the year. You can argue that's a good thing or a bad thing.

I never understood that statement since they don’t play head-to-head and they play opposing defenses.

However, it would be ok to say Jalen outplayed Tua which may have cost him, You could even say UGA outplay Bama. You may even say Joe Burrow out played Tua vs UGA.

Tua cost Tua. The O line cost Tua. Receivers cost Tua. The UGA D cost Tua.

Fromm however, had nothing to do with it.

and the fact he was playing on a gimpy knee since the Arkansas game.

That aside, Murray had a great season.
