Did Saban having to apologize to Maria Taylor break him?

He seems like a much more contrite Coach Saban after the apology. It seems like ESPN put her on the Alabama sideline for nearly every game so he would have to be nice in interviews, thus taking off his a-hole edge-even at the championship game.

It's hard to be a dick to someone who you spend that much time with. I really think that apology and having to kiss her arse fricked with him.
Some people are able to turn it on and off in short periods of time. I don't think Saban is one of those people after decades of having it on all the time during practice and game situations.

I think the apology came as a "suggestion" from the University, and motivated by a racial component.
